I'm starting this thread to talk about it, I'll post more after I use it more.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Battery life sucks but it's a good phone though.

psrock, so far I agree and disagree. Compared to good regular cells, yes. But I've been talking all day, at least 3 hours of talk time plus 30 minutes of browsing and it's not dead yet (I got an hour of talk time before it died out of the box, then charged it). I turned down the back lighting and changed it to 30 seconds till the screen goes dark. Which is way better than my sister-in-law gets out of her iphone.

I don't know how you people afford all these special phones with expensive ass phone plans...
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
The G1 is ok. It does need some work though. The android market is really nice. oh and congratz.

It does need some work, but nothing that firmware updates won't solve. More importantly for me, its a good PHONE. You know what I mean? The other stuff is really cool, so many free apps (for now, a good way to pacify me while they work the kinks out), the keyboard is good, the track ball is great, the speed is amazing (compared to Verizon's Florida network anyway)...
Some of the buttons are oddly placed but nothing I won't get used to.
My biggest complaints about the iPhone are absent. There's a keyboard, a trackball, card slot, and buttons. See Macbook Wheel if you don't know what I'm talking about.
Flaws: I do notice the lack of multi-point touch, the motion sensor isn't used for screen orientation (which is a shame), the browsing does eat power (but it's a really powerful browser), the touch screen sensitivity is inconsistent from app to app; one app you have to lay a big portion of you thumb, while others are screwed up by the slightest touch... the browser has this problem even in different places its very hard to use the touch but the trackball makes it ok.
Flaw for me: My fat thumb keeps hitting the menu button when I go to hit keys on the right hand side.
@ Akuma: I don't have cable or a home phone. I split my internet with my neighbor and we share the router.
I turn off the AC, water heater, my PC when I'm not home and I unplug, switch the breaker, or turn off power strips on electronics not in use. All my bulbs are florescent. I eat at home or off the dollar menu. I don't drive excess places, I plan my routes to save gas and time. I drink at home and moderately.
I don't go to the movie theater, unless my mom wants to go (and she pays); I get my money's worth out of Netflix... actually, I make sure to get my money's worth out of everything I can...
I clip coupons or get coupons on the internet. I look for sales and specials on everyday household goods and common food, and I stock up.
I never buy on impulse, never buy things "on sale" or with coupons that I normally wouldn't buy...
I eat/use a lot of rice, potatoes, broccoli, iceberg lettuce, plum tomatoes, onions, squash, zucchini, chicken, tilapia, peas, spinach, mushrooms, bananas, oranges, raisins and other "cheap" foods. I only buy convenience foods that I know I'll eat and that are a good value (usually when they go on sale). I eat luxury foods sparingly, but often enough to enjoy1-3 items a week (fresh pineapple, exotic fruits and vegetables, steak, etc.); I watch portions on expensive foods. I do not buy over priced pre-made meals, deli foods, etc. I only do cold cuts when they are on sale (I don't really like the cheaper prepackaged cold cuts).
I wash my clothes in cold water, they last longer and it uses less power (but I go to a laundromat, so it doesn't matter for me).
$30 extra per month on something that makes me happy is okay and quite within reach.

Another day, another post about my phone...
I like it more each day. I am becoming a fanboy. I'm using the touch screen more but I still like the track ball.
The functionality is amazing and I only seem to really appreciate it when I find/discover/use it.
Like the software that links to hardware. The ringer app, the screen dimming app, the full screen clock app, uploading pics to facebook and myspace. Yeah, I know the iphone does thise stuff, but I now understand why they love it so much... I'm still glad I have more than one button.
