Forums - Sony - Guerrilla Games: 'We can get more out of the PS3 in future projects'

If I remember correctly, Killzone 2 did cost more than $40M for GG. It means that killzone 2 must sell much more than games usually sell. If it will flop, GG will be another exclusive dev that might/will bite the dust because of sony. :P

Just saying that they should see how killzone 2 fares and after that comment on their future. :)

If Killzone 2 turns out to be succesful they will probaly make a third.

^ Once again: THEY ARE OWNED BY SONY, so no, your post fails. Do you have proof of other devs that "failed because of Sony"? If not, please stop posting inaccuracies.

Surely they won't keep it alive if it turns out to be dead weight in their current situation. Sony has already stopped developing some first party projects and its uncertain what they will do for those studios. And about those failed devs. Well, Free Radical and Factor 5 comes into my mind first. :)

You look happy regarding their problems, IMO that's not cool. :(

Haze was designed as a multi-platform title, bad reception killed their chance of releasing the 360 version. IMO it was an OK game.

Lair, some Epic impressive moments in this game and great music. The game needed more polish and fine tuning in some areas, sadly they opted to make motion sensing controls mandatory, resulting in bad reviews, (BTW I prefer to play this game with motion sensing myself, overall IMO a pretty good game if you can live with its flaws).

The PS3 has nothing directly to do with their failures, the bad economy combined with bad reception of their games seems to have resulted in a lack of funding.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

won't be a ps3 game thats for sure

What do you mean?? PS4??

Yes.

4 years making the game on an obscene budget and it's still short and lacking features. It doesn't suggest any "future projects" are going to arrive anytime soon. Even if they used the existing engine and managed to hurry a game out in 2 years that's late February of 2011 which is too close to next gen to 1) still be impressive, 2) change anything.

It would be better served as a PS4 launch game, unless of course Sony would rather show up a year late with no games again.

You're remembering a 'rumour' well. As far as I know there has been no official statement as to the actual cost of Killzone 2's production.

GG are owned by Sony. It's first party. The only way they'll go under is if Sony itself goes under/sells them or breaks them up.

You're speculating that Sony will actually ditch Guerrilla if Killzone 2 fails to meet sales expectations?

Sony halted development of some projects in other to develop other games that better suited their overall strategy. This process began after the new president of Sony worldwide Studios (Shuhei Yoshida) was brought in.

'Eight Days' for example was put on hold to develop 'Eyepet' etc.

Free Radical and Factor 5 are independant studios.

Games are not produced with the sole intention of selling hardware in mind. Games are made to make money. If Killzone 2 does well, Killzone 3 in 2011 or 2012 could provide Sony with a strong profit.

Also, I find it highly unlikely that GG will not be developing another game this gen. Given the amount of time invested into the production of the spectacualr KZ2 engine, it would be a monumental waste to use it solely on one outing.

Enjoy your 360 man.  We'll be over here playing KZ2.  You can watch.

Don't fret though.  360 has some good games.  PS2 does as well.
