Forums - Sales - The Hit or Miss thread

Per game doesn't really work. There's like 3 already for each game, and it doesn't really get down on the paper for real.

Monthly could be an idea though, but it poses a problem as games don't release in all regions in a month. Should it be counted by when all have been released? Because that flaws it up...

Doing it by game is completely meaningless, as it has been done before, and it doesn't work. Monthly kinda screws things up.

Quarterly could be OK, as most games have all the releases in a quarter.

Regardless, segmentation seems necessary to some degree. Monthly may not be a bad idea....

Perhaps one topic in which people nominate games, followed by others in which the division is implemented?

Hmm, not a bad idea.

Could be done monthly with for instance

Wii:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (Japan)

Mario Tennis (Wiimake, Japan only)

Ps3:

Lord of the Rings: Conquest (Americas + Others)

Skate 2 (Americas + Others)

X360:

Lord of the Rings: Conquest (Americas + Others)

Skate 2 (Americas + Others)

DS:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (Japan)

Moon (Americas only)

Does that work?

Edit: These are the major 2 releases on each machine for January.

I rather like the idea of taking the games when they release in the first territory and still making worldwide predictions. Confusing, maybe, but it simplifies the need to predict how a game will sell across the territories. So yes, like that, only without the territory clarifications.

The hard part would be keeping an index of the predictions. Maybe the OP of the voting topic, filled with links to the other topics?

We could make it some sort of official system. Say, for every big game, one of these threads gets stickied for a few weeks prior to release. Then there could be a mega thread with links to all the previous threads.

Each thread could be labeled something like "Hit and Miss: Killzone 2", with the main thread being "The Official Hit and Miss Thread."

Mod support would streamline this a lot.

Well, if it gets stickied it might be a good idea. It would actually serve another purpose.

It would do anything this thread does, and it would also prevent tons of "How much will The Legend of Zelda 15 sell?" threads at the same time.

Having a main "hit or miss" thread is also a great idea. You could put links to all the other hit and miss threads.

PS: I also think a mod (or several) should be the one making the thread(s), as that would prevent several "miss or hit - Zelda 15" threads being there.

Edit: Unless, of course, that would be too much work. Then I could do it (but as I'm a Norwegian, expect a sloppy half-assed job)

Or we COULD give the job to you, seeing as this was all your idea in the first place.  :P

But I'll talk it over with some people.
