My bluetooth headset that I only used for my PS3 stopped taking a charge. So I'm looking at my options to replace it. I'm leaning towards the official headset Socom bundle but the PS Eye does come with a mic built in and would be cheaper if I don't get abundle for it.

 How good is the PS Eye microphone? Would it end up being annoying? Is Socom any good (this would be my first Socom experience). I would like to read your thoughts on this.

im not sure how good it is but there are lots of games for the PSeye on the PSN so thats a positive for it. but i have heard that the official one is really good

I own both peripherals and while I haven't tried using the microphone for the PS Eye, I can definitely confirm that the official headset is phenomenal and so I recommend you get that first.

A few things-

1. Very comfortable and after a while you hardly notice you have it on
2. Noise reduction is great and friends of mine on PSN have confirmed this for me.
3. Has a charge level indicator on screen which is helpful. All you do is tap the power button on the headset.

I'd get a proper headset, PS Eye only works well if you're close to it.

Yeah, with the eye the sound quality isn't as great as the official headset. Someone walks into the room and people online can hear everything. And the worst part is the feedback you get from the television.
