Assuming he bought one himself and purchased games, perhaps even playing them with friends once in a while, then yes. Stupid question.

Ok, then going with your answer, his giving up means that he's going to stop buying games and playing them.  That's kinda stupid.

Every price-drop that Sony does, can be answered by Microsoft. Eventually prices will get closer to each other. By time Microsoft's answer will be weaker.

even Microsoft can spend a ton of cash. There is still a point where even if they make minor profit stockholder wont will expect more. Microsoft's entertainment division still has to pay off the original Xbox's hole too so wait and see.

Is that relevant anymore?

Those losses are over and done with. They shouldn't factor into Microsoft's future decisions. Or so I thought...

OT: I'm leaning heavily towards Microsoft taking second, as well. Like Squilliam mentioned, 11yr+1day > 10yr plan! Seriously though, Sony is fighting an uphill battle if they want second place.

An 8m loss or more for Sony would be embarrassing. Xbox only beat Gamecube by 2 million or something.

How can the 10 year plan compete with the 11 year and one day plan?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

frankly i couldnt care what Sony says or how long the PS3 is on the market for. I see the PS3 actually closing the gap and by 2010 or 2011 the PS3 will be in 2nd. I;m hoping holiday 2010 but I;m doubtful.

I love that you're actually an admin around here, it makes comments like these so much more entertaining.
