Forums - PC - Switched to Linux, need help

Yep but thankfully reinstalling GRUB isn't hard.

Alephnull, I and several others are testing Win7 and all agree it's a very nice step forward for an MS OS. Might not fix everything but it does more things right than most Windows OS's.

Won't replace Linux full time though but I don't feel too dirty while running it either.

I was just curious to know if you had tried it.  My opinion on Windows 7 is a lot like your own.

I plan to put some serious time on it in the coming weeks and I'll give a rundown of my experiences and how they compare to XP and Linux.

Bokal, have you ran Windows 7 yourself?

No.

Not interested.

My comment about its deprecation is not technical, it only comes from it being closed source and not seing important changes until the next big release, which should happen 4 years later.

Apple has chosen a faster release schedule, which is better.

Linux and other open source OS evolve every day.

Windows 7 may look good today, how will it compare to linux in one year?

Actually, the problem with Grub though was that I'm not running Linux.

The Grub error came up when trying to install WinXP on a WinVista system.

I'll probably fix it, though, since I can at least boot the damn thing.

Lol, I got Viper1 and Bokal mixed up.

@ Bokal: After working as a computer technician for a couple of years, I have found that Windows, Linux and Macintosh each have their advantages and disadvantages and condemning.

Condemning an OS without trying it and despite the good things people have been saying about it seems a little closed minded to me.

@Senlis: Have you been trying sex with men? I've been told it's cool...
Not interested?

I feel almost the same about closed source OSes...

It's probably closed minded, but I don't care much... Simply not interested.
