Forums - Gaming - Will China become a Major player in the Gaming world ??

As we know in the last 20 years China has become one of worlds economy powerhouses. I never see or heard anything about the chinese gaming front, onl thing I know is... that piracy is they only import and teenagers stay awake for 5 nights farming WOW gold and hacking U.S. computer systems. Do yo think China will be a major player in the gaming world in the future? and spore thier own gamig companys like microsoft. sony. take two etc........

If you can get past their piracy and their oppressive censorship, then yeah

otherwise: good luck >_>

Perhaps when they decide to stop their massive bootlegging and start buying retail games

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

eventually theres just too many people

When we move from disc-based games to digital distribution the overhead of selling a game will go down, piracy may/will become more difficult, and developers can make as much money selling games for less money ... Combine this with the rise of the Chineese middle-class and gaming in China will become a very big industry.

At the same time, Chineese development is already becomming a major player as companies outsource development to China ... Sometimes it is only part of a game (Gears of War) and other times it is to create entire games on a tiny budget (lots of shovelware).

I do hope so, I'm Chinese myself and may have to live in mainland China in the future.

I've seen the official Chinese version of Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360 in a demonstration stand inside a Hong Kong mall and a Chinese version of Dynasty Warriors 5 for the PS3 at the Asia Game Show. It's time Nintendo wise up and release official Chinese language versions of games for the Wii.

Not for a long time. Have people finally realized how little India and China account for in sales now? (There were folks claiming there would be tremendous sales of a certain console in these regions once it launched).
In relative terms, India and China don't buy much more than an average African country when it comes to games and consoles.

China will be a powerhouse. The only question is whether they will be a PC dominated nation like Korea or Console(Handheld) like Japan and now they are leaning heavily towards the PC gaming end.

I have little doubt that China will become a PC dominated nation, which it is right now.
