Forums - Gaming - Killzone 2: Why would anyone want to invade Helghast?

@ richard: if so, so what? :-/

We know little about the story, yet you are trying to put it down already. R2 also continues the war against the Chimera, and it doesn't exactly have "stop the cycle of violence".

Luckily we have such intricate and wonderful storylines in Gears of War, where they do not just tread down the clichés of the genre?

Luckily, the US didn't think "oh, wait, Iraq is a desert... let's not go there, it's too bland for us".
Luckily, Israel thought "it's about time to end the cycle of violence"...

Yeah, but KillZone 2 needs to bashed...

Actually, I'm pretty sure we're unlucky as fuck that we didn't stay out of Iraq due to it being a bland desert.

VGChartz seems to focus most on graphics from what I've seen. Neogaf and the Playstation boards have tons more info about the gameplay, which has also been getting lots of praise.

The two most common complaints I've seen about the game so far are the voice acting (not horrible, but not great either) and the controls which might not be fully customizable in the full game (most people want CoD4 controls).

For controls, there are numerous configurations to choose from. You DON'T have to be limited to the R3 for ironsights. If it still has the same name like it was in the beta, the configuration called "Alternate 2" is the one you want to have R1 for shoot and L1 for ironsights (R3 will be melee).

Just wanted to quote myself because I saw this image posted. This is the control scheme I was talking about for anybody who's not to keen on R3 for ironsights (such as myself).

Have you seen the new videos ? Since the Grey/Brown filter has been removed it looks more colourful. Besides GG have said that the areas they showed in the videos aren't the only parts we would see in Helghan.

its just a game... chill nerds

I keep wondering why soldiers "on foot" are being sent in, and they aren't just bombarding the whole thing from the air. For a "ultra-futuristic" game, the war strategy itself looks completely laughable.

Either way, I'm keeping out of KZ threads in general - its "another" FPS, and the last thing on the planet I am interested in.

The fact that you make a thread about "why would anyone want to invade helghast" and do little more then attack the color pallete instead of asking the actual question is very trollish. Your "real" question was answered but you've still only gone on and on about the color pallete and your assumptions of what the final game may be like based on two levels of the game.

The question had to do with potential for sameness of the environment, and far less the color pallet.  IF the game is level after level of the same environment, that has potential to be dull.  Same would go with a game involving the Iraq conflict, where you are in the desert the entire time.

I will add here, even if it stays with the browns and greys, and doesn't change, it still looks a LOT better than Halo 3.

Getting a Death Star type device and blowing the planet up, might spare a lot of people grief.  However, the backstory is that it is very rich in resources, so it is an essential planet, so not sure blowing it up is an option.

They're trying to capture the leader and remove the helghast as a threat. There's a bit of back story on the official site.

probably because it has oil.

Again, I already addressed this in my last post. You have no proof other then your assumptions. We know we've only seen the beginning of the game. We've heard from the devs that their will be other environments. So what's the point in this thread. The next Halo game could be only one level long and reveal that master chief is really a clone of hitler but I don't go making posts let alone threads about it because I have a baseless assumption. All evidence points otherwise, so get over it and concede your point is lost (for now, wait until the game comes out and see). Because their really is no point or evidence to your accusations.
