Forums - Nintendo - Does the Wii need a platnium range.

Yes. Metroid needs it :(

They don't need a different platinum line, just drop the prices. Traditionally games that are at least a year old get dropped in price whether they still sell or not. It happens on 360 and PS3. Dead Rising, Mass effect and other big games are way cheaper now than when they came out.

Oh god... please no!!!!

I never understood why do you have to spend money designing, developing and implementing new awful covers just to lower the price.

Please keep it this way: low prices with normal editions.

Got it new for £11,99.

The platnium range would allow for old games that suffer from devieating prices to be brought down to a reasonable price range and people could tell what games sell.

How many more Galaxy or Zelda games would sell at half price? I bet a LOT.....

Nintendo has lowered some game prices, Big Brain Academy for example is now list at $29.99 instead of the original $49.99. Same box art though.

I think Metroid would benefit GREATLY from a $29.99 pricepoint. Even Warioware would take off again. And Warioland should have always been at that type of price, it would have sold much better.

Absolutely. I'm very surprised we havn't seen this already. However Nintendo is also trying to move away from the model of dropping prices on games. So you'll find for the most part Nintendo games have remained at a static price point since they launched. Not doing a 'Platinum Sellers' - which is usually half the original price could be part of that decision.

Still it'd be nice to have some kind of Platinum brand for outstanding 3rd party games like Zack & Wiki, RE4, Okami & Boom Blox (and many others) that people shouldn't miss.

What I don't want is any million seller getting 'Platinum' cause that would further help sales of crapfests like Party Games.

Those games would be about 10 dollars if they went platinum lol.

No but I think that Nintendo should do a kind of "Best of". First release and full priced games too. Reason? Because it would permit Nintendo to advertise a "Best of" label and then choose which title to put in it that would help push the console or build closer tie with certain third party publisher.

No crap about a label for already released game and how much they sold and which all the "pushing power" is long gone or anything like that, but based on criteria that help the library expansion of the console. Nintendo strategy up to now as pretty much been "build the install base and they will come" but it's clear that certain genre which the Wii is well suited for are underepresented on the console.

Criteria should probably be something along the line of, the game need to be exclusive, it need to be either in a genre(an actual genre not fanboyish crap like "hardcore game") which is underepresented on the console or an high value game in an already proven genre, it need to be well made(obviously) ect.

It would incite some developer to either produce big budget games in proven genre or good effort on unproven one on the Wii because the label pretty much mean free advertisement from Nintendo and thus drasticly lower the risk of commercial failure while at the same time not forcing Nintendo to advertise each game individually(much less costly).
