Forums - Sales - Hard core Wii sales

Well I don't view it as a hardcore game but I would agree that its "hardcore" in the stereotypical sense.

Personally I think there is a lot of hype surrounding the title and that when marketing comes around that will increase. I worry about sales in Europe, but in America they should be fine. FPS's usually don't have too many problems selling there.

As long as the game gets good advertising around release and good reviews it should do fine.

I'm predicting 2 million for it, but when I look at Far Cry 2 sales on X360 it scares me: 1.18 million...

HOW did a game with so good reviews, and so much hype, failed to sell like all others 360 good FPS?

Very excited to see how the Conduit sells worldwide.

For those in the know, is there a set release date for it yet? I know Reggie was excited for the title, as per one of his last reviews, so it's good that it has NoA's backing in some form.

Spring 2009 so my guess would be some time in May.

And yes I'm sure NoA is very excited about it considering the backlash of anti-core sentiment.  They'll probably continue to hype it up along with Sega of course.

Couldn't compete with CoD: WaW and Gears of War 2.  It's amazing it was able to do so well amist those shooters releasing.  Not to mention Fallout 3 at the same time.

Not always about how good a game is but if it gets the hype and marketing it needs to obtain mainstream appeal.  Shooters are huge mainstream properties.  All they need is a little attention to have big sales.

I think if the game is quality we are looking at a minimum of 1.5 million, about what MP3 did, but MP3 launched on a userbase of 13-14 million, this game will be launching on a 50 million userbase. If it catches on at all watch out, the Wii have a massive userbase and there are not really too many other games competing with it. I can see it doing 3 million if things go its direction.

Why does it launching on a smaller userbase hold it back? I don't get that, Metroid Prime is still on a userbase of 50 million users. If anything it hosts for better Metroid Prime sales, as it's had over a year on the market and retailer shelves to pick up as many sales as possible, at a much lower retail price nowadays.

Also I don't see where people are getting the idea SEGA will market this, sure they'll say they will or something like that, cause they're not going to say otherwise. Personally I can't see them breaking the band on marketing The Conduit, I think they'd see that money better spent marketing Sonic and House of the Dead. Or better yet, just not spent at all :/.

I'd say it has more hype than red steel had, and its on a much larger install base. Pretty much guaranteed million seller. 1st week of 250,000 in americas, and strong legs will make this a big seller.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

1.5 - 2 million provided Sega advertises the game properly and gets the retail channel to purchase the required quantities.

That last part plays bigger role in a game's success than most people understand.

like alot of other games it got lost in the shuffle because it was released too close to other big 360 games. i hope this teaches developers a lesson to not release all big games at the Q3/Q4 of the year.

Yeah but Far Cry 2 >>>> CoD5

In hype and it was pretty good in reviews also.

MP3 doesn't have online multi-player.  (Sure there is some limitted online for unlockables...), so it doesn't have the same level of replay value as a FPS.  Without the replay value, the used market eats into the sales more then it will for the Conduit.

I could see this game doing 3 mil.  Not saying I expect it though...  I could see it doing as poor as 500k too...

There hasn't been enough high quality third party wii exclusives to know what to expect for the Wii.  If you don't agree, please list some high quality hard core 3rd party wii exclusives.  Right now I am assuming the Conduit will be high quality, but until it's released, we don't really know...

I highly doubt offline multiplayer will affect sales much. I hear far more demand for online mulitplayer than offline.
