Well, my experience with playing with other people was always against them, and then i played normally, winning or losing depending mostly on the game. Nowadays these crazy developers and they coops and splitscreens make me fail :(, i also played some matches on split screen, he always on my team, and i still failed :(

Also, when my parents come into the room they won't look at the screen so i won't fail

This social facilitation thing is interesting. I will suck at electric guitar if someone is watching (not that i play that well :P), but i do play guitar and sing pretty well if someone is watching. I also perform better on basketball if there is someone watching

Not really, generally they give me pointers. Perhaps highlighting other players (online) who I might not have seen otherwise.

An exception to this is when I'm actually PLAYING online WITH other friends, so I can see what they're getting in the game, I try and compete and get stressed, play quality goes down the pan.

Oh yeah. That's why i always crash and burn in Smash Bros tournaments. Last one i was at, i kicked ass in the warmup round, and just blew it in the first round

This happnes to me a hell of alot with SoulCalibur IV and MotorStorm Pasific rift.

It usually doesn't affect me too much, but I do play better by myself than at a friends house.

lol, for me it depends on the game. whem i play brawl i own them, same with mario kart but for demostration of single palyer or rpg games i seem to fail hard. maybe it coz it only a demo.i dunno !
