The patch is pretty good. I still get lag and small hiccups when other players join the game, but besides that no lag at all.

I have stopped playing R2 online because I prefer the tactical gameplay of SOCOM much more :P

"Update on Patch 1.3 Issues

Posted by Cindy “Abigale” Bowens

Hi, Folks-

I just wanted to give you another update with these issues. Unfortunately, these two fixes are taking longer than was first anticipated. The team is working on both issues diligently and will get the fixes to you as soon as they are completed and thoroughly tested. We apologize for the delay and will have things working correctly again as soon as possible."

New 1.41 patch to be released on Monday -

"Earlier this week we performed a server update. This was the final step in fixing the latency (lag) issue some players were experiencing (Medley games being created on non native servers) - We have verified that this issue is now fixed.

Patch 1.41 will be deployed 2am on Monday, March 9th in preparation of the upcoming release of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation in Europe. In addition to synchronizing all players with the European release, the 1.41 patch includes the following changes:

XMB presence - Medley Game information has been abbreviated, displaying all information required to identify the location of the player.

Late Join 'Hitch' improvements - addresses the pause experienced by players when someone late joins a game.

Navigating Screens With Large Clans – slow down issue fixed

Increased speed of fade at the beginning of the round.

Quick Match -

Increased countdown timer in Quick Match Pre Game lobby from 20 to 60 seconds.
Enabled Quick Match team switching.
Ranked, Unranked and Unranked Respawn games, each contains 6 different playlists: 3 8vs8 and 3 16vs16 players.

Claymores can now be detonated when player is in the prone position

Note: So where did 1.40 patch go! The 1.40 was intended to support the European release, we combined the 1.40 and the 1.41 together to speed the deployment of the above fixes.

Development continues on patch updates, additional content and improvements to the game. We thank everyone for their feedback on the title. Player counts remain very health and we look forward to the contribution that the European players will make to the Community.

Thanks for reading,
THE SOCOM: Confrontation Online Team"

I don't have Socom but, I heard they already released Patch 1.41?

EDIT: NVM, I just saw the above post. Can you guys tell me if Socom is really worth it now?

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

It is worth it now they have, for the most part, fixed all the issues that were a problem at launch and have since added trophies. If you already have a headseat then go for the $40 version

I really like SOCOM: Confrontation, personally. I still hope Zipper/Sony gives us SOCOM 4, but Confrontation is a blast, nonetheless.

Trophies are cool. I'm gonna have to start playing a bunch again, and score some trophies, although I'll have to split my KZ2/Warhawk time with it.

Patch 1.42 News Update

Update Posted by SOCOM: Confrontation Online Team Patch

1.42 is in final QA. We are targeting a release late next week, but this may change if any issues arise. Patch 1.42 addresses the following issues:

* Fixed an issue where players were spawning in incorrect locations.

* Fixed an issue where players who were voted out of a game were not removed from the game until the end of the round.

* Addressed an issue where the ragdoll would sometimes receive extreme values.

* Added some bandwidth optimizations to improve the overall on-line experience, especially under less than ideal network conditions. More bandwidth optimizations to come in future updates.

Patch 1.42 is an incremental patch which will be about 17MB for people who already have patch 1.41 installed. We've been working in parallel on patch 1.50. We'll have some exciting new information about patch 1.50 next week. You can comment on this post here.
