Forums - Sony - UT3- PS3-PC crossplatform play: Confirmed

Very nice, cross platform play should only be between PS3 owners with keyboards and PC owners though.

One of the main selling points of Xbox Live on PC was the whole crossplatform play between the two versions of Shadowrun and this completely obliterates that.

How is MS Live going to survive at all in the face of steam? What is MS doing trying to make people pay for their gaming online on a PC?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Oh man, if Valve offered cross platform play for 'The Orange Box' with the PC and PS3 (I doubt Microsoft would allow it without windows live) through Steam, I would consider that a large blow against Windows Live.

So wait, I can hop on my PC version and show these kids with PS3s what the difference is between a PC FPS gamer and a console FPS gamer? This will be especially fun knowing that 95% of PS3 gamers are not going to be using the keyboard. Oh the fun the fun! Seriously this is completely unfair. Even the PS3 gamers who do use keyboard and mouse are going to end up against tourney gamers like Bod who will mercilessly destroy them. There needs to be a way to separate play between those using a sixaxis and those using a keyboard and mouse.

Keep in mind you will be able to set up your games to have them as either "Keyboard only" "Gamepad only" or "Mixed".  So i gotta think cross platform will involve both the keyboard and the gamepad.  I mean what PC gamers would't want to let some gamepad guys in to rank up their scores?

How do pc gamers have an advantage Id like to know that..

As people say in the Counter-Strike world, 'stat whores!'.

Wow. That's quite a coo, as cross platform really looked like it was going to be a 360/PC only. Now here's a question, does this mean it's technically possible for PS3/360 gamers to face off against eachother? And if it is, would they ever actually let that happen?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Buy the game and find out Leo-j.  Have you ever played an FPS on a PC before?  PC gamers (especially tourney gamers) take FPSes many levels past where they lie on consoles.  The difference between your average PC FPS gamer and your average console FPS gamer is the difference between someone who plays nothing but party games and someone who plays Gears of War.  You are about to see what the world of REAL hardcore gamers is like, and I don't think you are going to like the difference in ability level.  I'm going to enjoy this lol.

I'm sure it's technically possible, but other than that. . . . . lol

Yes, see Counter-Strike tournaments and matches. Those people play for keeps, lol.

I did happen to see part of a Halo 2 tournament on TV randomly one day though.
