Forums - Microsoft - Is 360 hate in Japan still because of the war?

I like the way people in this thread all assume that all of the Japanese people think as one entity.

What i said about japanese companies is pretty factual.

Japanese don't hate 360 because of war. They hate Microsoft. Microsoft has a lot of WW2 games which reminds Japanese that Americans killed 200 000 people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. take a look at COD World At War. As long as WW2 games exist for PC and 360, Japanese will hate 360.

ahem..... medal of honor for example was started on the playstation ..and call of duty has always been multiplatform

got anything else to back up?

World War 2 i mean. Are the Japanese still holding a grudge against the atomic bombs? The 360 practically offers pretty much every game the PS3 has plus a whole lot of JRPGs. I'm wondering.. still old hatreds killing sales?

Do you refuse to buy Nintendo/Sony/Toshiba products because of Pearl Harbor?

Most americans don't (mainly because most are detatched from this part of the conflict)

On the other hand a suprising number of people will still not buy german products because of the war and Volkswagon is certainly susceptable to this (see the drop in US sales for both Chrysler and Budweiser after beeing bought out buy German companies. While not catastrophic as a mass racial predjudice would cause they do tend to trend slightly lower in good and bad times showing that there is a facet of the US economy and not a small one that still hold that grudge of which you speak).

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

In Europe, German cars are very popluar as they tend to be the best, despite the fact that Europe suffered by far the most damage at the hands of the Germans in WW2. It was over 60 years ago!! If any Americans don't want to but German cars because of WW2 then they truley must be as thick as mince.

This topic reminded me of this hilarious WW2 gif I found so I have to post it.

As far as the Ainu go, they don't really teach much about them. But at the same time, it's an unfortunatereality that almost every country glosses over the status of their oppressed minorities (US/Mexico/Argentina/etc. and Native Americans, Australia and Aboriginies, Taiwan and the native Taiwanese, Muslims in European countries, the list goes on). That's not to excuse the Japanese, but it's unfortunately not an unusual thing anywhere in the world.

I don't know what history books you're speaking of, but all the ones I've read didn't gloss over the fact that the Native Americans were extremely mistreated.

They hate the controller. Its too big for their hands. Same for me. I am asian too and I hate the 360 controller. I love the PS3 controller on the other hand.
