I fail to see how people are impressed by that 1m figure.

$1 million is a psychologically satisfying number for those who aren't used to read news about business/finance.

Given how many people said HOME was a waste of time, and a failure, and things to that nature, $1 million seems like Sony is doing something correct.  Some people must enjoy the microtransactions.

I agree that around $1 million per month is not a bad number if it continues for the next few months/years. However it's not extraordinary, and it probably doesn't make Home a cash cow or anything like that.

It was actually 1 million in 17 days or something like that, and given how it was only downloaded 3.4 million times, it's defintely a good number.  Once more people DL it, and spend money, which will happen as the install base increases, it'll do much better numbers... Theoretically that is.

Around the Network

How much was spent developing Home? Hopefully they can regain it and triple its amount.

I said $1 million a month because I think it would be unrealistic not to take into account that this was:

- a holiday month with lots of new PS3 owners

- the Home launch, with people buying stuff to try it out (who may not continue spending so much money if they get tired of Home or of the micro-transactions)

That doesn't change the fact that it was only 17 days , the bulk of purchases would have been pre-xmas ps3 .And i can't imagine the x-mas period would greatly bennefit Home items that weren't christmas related.
