Forums - Gaming - Does your gaming taste dictate your personality?

For example, Dewy's Adventure, a game where you control a drop of water using the wiimote as a balance control.

If you tilt too much, you cause a lot of change in moment.

And when you tilt too much on 1 side, you quickly tilt other side trying to balance only to make it worse, ending up with your cute drop of water to make large movement changes.

Do you think only calm people able to play this game?

Example 2, SRPG, Final Fantasy Tatics, a game involve use of tatics where positioning your character is quite important to keeping one alive. Rush in and you will likely die. Not only you have to tank the front, you need the back flank to support and heal or long range attacks. Final Fantasy might not be as good an example compare to, say, Fire Emblem. Where it is much more unforgivable if you make a wrong move. You might have to restart your level multiple times even. Does this make you a patient person?  (Patient isn't exactly the same as calm)

Example 3, FPS, a game where you don't have to think. You just want to go in and shoot stuff up. Does this make you an uncomplicated person?

I love how you think that in an FPS, you never have to think. Have you ever played one in your lifetime?

All those generic puzzles games, all you have to do is mindlessly move objects. No thinking involved whatsoever.

You have it backwards. At least in how you wrote it. Your personality dictates your gaming habits. I like to take time to think and I enjoy manipulating numbers and resources, so I lie turn based strategy and rpgs. I'm thinking that's what you meant, but you still put it backwards.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

In fairness to him, my favorite FPSes (the original Turok, Painkiller, Doom) are actually essentially filling that description.

Well no that's not true

I really love Half-Life and Bioshock and I'd love System Shock if I ever got to play it, I'm sure.

But there is a place for mindless FPSes!

It is the opposite for me, my personality dictates how I play games and to a certain extent which ones I play.

What am I for kind of person then, I love playing everything. There is honestly not a genre I dislike.

You have it totaly wrong.

It's your personality that dictates your gaming choices.
