Forums - Microsoft - I just noticed that Halo Wars and Star Ocean 4 are both scheduled for 3-3.

     I just noticed on IGN's list of release dates for the 360 (http://xbox360.ign.com/index/release.html) that Halo Wars and Star Ocean 4 are both set to release on the same day 3-3-09.  Do you think that these games will take away from each others' sales, that they will compliment each others' sales, or that one will be pushed back or forward a bit?

I'm sure they just announced Halo Wars for Feb 28 at CES an hour ago.

Even if true, they're in such different genres that I don't see it having too big of an effect on either's sales.

edit: I guess it's not true so now it really doesn't matter.

I bet they bumped it forward because it was scheduled for release the same day as Star Ocean.

      After playing Warcraft 3, I don't see a huge difference in genres between a storydriven jrpg and a storydriven rts game.

I don't think they will take that much sales from each other. Before anyone says anything like "but Eternal Sonata was released a week before Halo 3 and it bombed", you need to remember that Star Ocean 4 is actually considered a big 360 game unlike Eternal Sonata which had very little hope of selling no matter what.

Such an incredibly stupid move by Micro$oft to release an RTS and an RPG so close together. People who like genres that start with R will be forced to choose one or the other, so they will absolutely cannibalize each other's sales.
