Forums - Nintendo - The "Forgotten" Gaming Demographic The Wii Has Recaptured

Rip off?? give me A F-ING break.

Wow some people must always come up with crap that they can use to justify to themselves that Nintendo is perfect, sad really sad...

Seriously though, if you thought before you posted you would have realized that nothing I said was against Nintendo. But instead I am complaining about the companies dumping these roms on VC (nintendo included) with bare minimum effort.  The fact that PC emulators run these games with better visuals and some even with online play is pretty pathetic in respect to VC...

While you are probably right I want to mention that Wii Virtual Console is the biggest rip off since 60 GB ps3 at 599.

First of all we are all paying money again for games that we own, have owned at some point. Secondly, none of these games come with any sort of new features but are straight forward roms.

And here is the saddest part of it all. There is a Gamecube Sega genesis emulator that runs on the wii of the SD card. That emulator actually makes games look better than official VC downloads. That's just sad...and it shows that VC has become a place where companies dump their old roms for a quick buck.

Xbox live arcade is the way to go for classic gaming but that takes time and effort on the gaming companies part...

so fuckin true

The VC would factor into my decision to buy a Wii, but I would like VC more if it offered more games that were never released in the US or that were released in the US but not on the most popular consoles. I would like to see Emerald Dragon, Snatcher, Magical Popful Mail, Lunar I and II, and maybe Policenauts be a part of VC as they've never been released in the US before.

I don't know which systems you owned but I had all 4 for my sega CD at some point of my life.

Well, earlier in my post I also said that were released in the US but not on the most popular consoles.  And, the Sega CD was probably more popular than some others that have come and gone.  Still those games didn't reach as large an audience during the 16 bit era as SNES and Genesis games and I would like to see them come to the Wii and Virtual Console.

These games were never released in the US (Dracula X -- it was on PSP but it was more of a remake and I've heard it didn't look as good as the PCE version) Far East of Eden, Emerald Dragon, the Dragon Warrior games V and VI (they are on DS but you can't play DS through tv as far as I know), Seiken Densetsu 3, Treasure Hunter G, Bahamut Lagoon, The Creation of Heaven and Earth, Policenauts, Mother 3.

These games were released in the US but on Sega CD:  Lunar I And II, Magical Popful Mail, Snatcher.

I think they would all be good additions to VC.

I agree too...howeer some of these games are over 500 megabytes so I dont see it happening. You can track down sega cd version ISOs and play them on Gens emulator in the meantime...

My sister refuses to play games in 3-D, so she lapsed after the SNES. She still has a NES and regularly plays Golf and Mega Man 2. When I told her that Wii Sports Golf was the first 9 holes of NES Golf re-done in 3-D and that you actually swing instead of using a joystick, she flipped out and started bringing all her friends over to play Golf all the time. Now I've gotten her to play her first couple post-SNES games, and she really loves Wii Sports, Guitar Hero, and Karaoke Revolution Party.

And the VC is not a ripoff. You can buy 6 N64 games, or 12 NES games, or any combo in between, for the price of a single new HD game. The classics have passed the test of time and it is easier to find good reviews for them or ask people who have played them, while the new games are getting meaningless 10/10s and GOTY!s thrown around like crazy and could easily be a Lair or a Haze.

It's very rare that a new game is worth more than 10 old ones.

Well for me VC is one of most important Wii features, the amount of quality on it is just incredible and even if i did not buy any retail game for a year i would simply start playing more VC and never get bored, i just dont have that much time to play all the games i want.

I dont think they rip offs they still very good products and many of them are impossible to get in shops (even if you posess the system), recently ive downloaded street Fighter 2 and Virtua Fighter to play with my cousins (we loved them in the past) and it still was a blast. When i get more time i finally want to complete Mario RPG and Secret of Mana.
