Forums - Gaming - HDMI VS. Component Video

Which do you use and why?

I had an arguement with a buddy of mine who swore up and down that component was superior to HDMI, so I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

I personally use HDMI, because I get some odd screen interferance and artifacts on component.

I've always heard HDMI was better...don't really know why other than the fact that it is one cable as opposed to 100 some lol

That's the Monster cable.

Anybody who buys one of the "high quality" HDMI cables needs to be kicked in the ass.

HDMI carries a digital signal, which means that the picture quality will not change with a different cable.

Of analog, that's untrue, but, if it carries the signal, it's as good as it gets.

HDMI is better.

I had component before I switched to HDMI and HDMI made a visible difference. I always thought it would be negligible but it was not. It was much better.

From my experience quality is roughly the same, unless you compare them side by side, and know what to look for, you probably won't notice any difference at all. I usually prefer HDMI simply for convenience, only 1 cable!
