In the end of it all, I doubt playstation will be closed, it's too big of a brand with major dev supporters still.

Lol, this thread got buried.

There are different interpretations to the article's claim... Major divisions could well refer to one of these instead of one of Sony's divisions which are discriminated in the financial reports.

In any case we'll have to wait and see, all we can do is speculate and discuss different possibilities. What we do know is that Sony will have to do something, article or not.

Thanks for bumping it, Smashed. It really does paint a different picture.

MAJOR divisions...so...sorry..only a few major divisions

the reason playstation is assumed or thought of is because of the billion or millions it lost and still may be loosing for sony.

you don't shut down a profitable (though may be small) division of your company to help support a division that is loosing you a ton of money.

Edit:  I don't care how much you think a company wants to please you (fans) that doens't matter.  The CEO's will be thinking of profit and how to get themselves as rich as possible

Obviously they will think of how to get themselves rich, but they won't shut down SCE, it's too big. They have put too much money into it, even know they have lost alot from PS3.

well not sure what all SCE includes. If it is just hardware I could see them doing that. But they will still make games becuase they make a profit off of games.

So why would anyone care if they no longer make hardware, you still get their games.

and so no bashing of me, i could care less if PS3 lives or dies. i'm just trying to be a realist and not blindly assume everything will be peachy and no changes

none of those are considered "major" except for a few

As a matter of fact, you just proved the opposite... that the gaming division is more then likely to get axed!!

Unless, of course, you think its the Music or Movie division loosing billions??
