Come on guys/fanboys, i know some of you hate sony and the ps3, but dont be crazy to the point where you think that the ps3 will be gone soon...

Maybe, but I would strongly doubt it. At least as far as 2009 goes. It is possible come 2011, and Sony fails to catch up, it drops out. Or, the PS4 comes out and Sony decides to jump on that, and pull the plug on the PS3.

It all depends on what Sony does financially. I would be surprised if it happened, but not caught completely offguard. What Sony is going through now had been the early warnings that other companies have had in the past, that knocked them completely out of the business.

Don't discount the changes going on in the economy currently. Things could end up falling apart even worse. Maybe even Microsoft ends up having to pull out.

No. But Sony won't be full steam ahead with the PS3 support either.

Theres no way. Sony is already in too deep now. it won't be discontinued and i don't think anyone really thinks it will. I think there is some legitimate reason to wonder as to a ps4 but that situation is still pretty far away. Most people just think that SCE needs some major restructuring not to be completley closed

You would be surprised at the number of xbox360 fanboys waiting for the ps3 to fail and sony to go third party as sega did so there games would migrate to the 360, with a first and second party line up like sony's atleast we can understand why.

I honestly doubt it. Production costs are down loads, and are set to drop further soon, so there's a fair chance that the PS3 will become profitable this year.

Also, there's a bunch of games being released this year that they've spent freakin' loads of money on. It'd be stupid to cancel the console before those games are given a chance to start making money.
