Forums - Gaming - "Dreamcast was the best console ever!!!" Shut up.

All that Dreamcast shit is because Dreamcast has the biggest amount of AAA titles per million consoles sold.

It's a fucking stupid console.
And I'm talking controller wise and everything.
The fucking cable was on the bottom of the controller, as if the console is going to be behind you or something :S.

Not to mention it had a dumbass memory card that you stuck on the top of the controller.

Like really, dumb ideas were utilized just for the sake of being 'original' or 'different'.

lmfao..  "it's a fucking stupid console" because of the cord?  wow...

The VMU was probably the best accessory for the Dreamcast...

It acted as an info screen for games like say Resident Evil, instead of opening up the options screen to see your inventory, it was already on the VMU, just look down on the controller, it showed stuff like Ammo, Health, Weapon Etc.

when you popped it into your Steering Wheel it would give you a digital read out of your speed and such.

Also taking it on the go was great, leveling up, getting money or extra hidden items while you were away from the console, then pop it in to the Dreamcast and all the items and such would be in game..

Also it wasn't "Stuck on the top of your controller" but actually slipped inside of it, and you didn't have to use it if you didn't want to, there were none Screen Memory units.

The VMU had to be in the controller so it's added benefit could be utilized, the screen. Unfortunately it wasn't used as much as Sega wanted it to be, but there were games out there that benefitted greatly from having it. The cord was on the bottom because the VMU needed to be in the controller. Just remember that Sega being "original" and "different" is what lead to an internet browser and online play in the Dreamcast, and software like Jet Set Radio, Seaman, Segaga and Typing of the Dead.

not to mention the controller had a cord holder on the bottom :P

The analogue stick get's really worn down after awhile though.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

finally someone agrees with me. Its not a bad console, it just wasn't anything amazing. And thats why Nintendo and Sony are still in the console wars and Sega is making software.

Oh, dear. You didn't just go there...?

This is a horrible time to say such a thing. Sony is doing awfully financially, who knows if they'll make it past the PS3? If that happens, one can say the same:
"The [PS#] wasn't anything amazing. That's why Nintendo and Microsoft are still in the console wars and Sony is... doing... something else."

Would you agree? Honestly, unless you'd agree the Wii is currently the best console out, you should know financial success doesn't entirely correlate with quality.

I think the Dreamcast is a great console. It's one of my favorites and has a lot of really good games. It was way ahead of it's time and it's just to bad it didn't last very long.

Nintendo is still in the hardware race because unlike Sega. they know when to be innovative and when to sight tight and milk the ocean.

Sony is in the race becuse they had money to spend on 3rd party exclusives and they knew how to create hype. We will see for how long they hold out with that business model now that MS is around.

Yes I honestly would. To this day I still haven't bought a PS2 and I never will, not new/itself anyway, I may get a modded one down the road for like 20 bucks or something.

Its true that the Dreamcast library was short lived in the long run, and at the end of the gen anyone could postulate that PS2 had more games. What I had a problem with, were the assholes claiming this early on when that was clearly not the case. Dreamcast had the most amount of games on it's launch date than any other console at the time. In the early days there were few PS2 games and most of them were not worth while. I remember after 6 months there was like Tekken Tag and... like.. Tekken Tag, and MGS2 is gonna come out! wow, I hated PS2 fans, I still do.,

Yes, the Dreamcast was the best console ever. The ports to other platforms sucked by comparison. DOA2 is better than hardcore on PS2 and 3 on X-Box. Soul Calibur is better than 2 on Gamecube and X-Box. SC is better than SC2 and 3 on PS2. Jet Grind Radio is better than Jet Set Radio Future on X-Box. Shenmue 1 and 2 are better than Shenmue 2 on X-Box. Marvel VS Capcom is better on DC than on PS1. Sonic Adventure is better on DC than on Gamecube. Skies of Arcadia is better on DC than Gamecube. Etc Etc. ad nauseum

And let's not even get into the Dreamcast exclusives. DC is the best console of all time with the best games. Period.

I guess I'll also add, for the sake of discussion. It was the only console at this point, to have it's own Ai logic chip on board, which programmers could utilize to give gamers a unique and wonderful experience. It kept games from getting stale or disallowing a certain amount cheap trick winning, but most people got out what they put in. To me this was a feature that Maddenites particularilly hated, because I feel that they don't like ... well I won't go there, but yeah I thought that was a very underapreciated element that was ONLY on Dreamcast.
