Forums - Sony - "PS3 Haters Lose Advantage, Jealousy Fuels Hostility"

Every major company has at one point done something arrogant or illegal(except maybe Google). Every one of them, even your beloved Sega. Get over it. You shouldn't be basing which console you prefer on the company, you should be basing it on which games appeal to you the most. Being a sore loser just because Sony screwed over Nintendo is denying yourself some very great games only available on Sony consoles.

Oh , dont you worry

I'm a gamer 1st

A hater 2nd

I'll eventually get a ps3 2ND HAND and buy lots of 2ND hand games for it hence never giving sony a GOD DAMN PENNY.

I agree with this post 100% I never even comment in any one of GebX and the other XBot's threads as that only gives their threads a recognition.

Why do you think they had to redesign the PS1 before releasing it?

Because Sony's R&D before this was intended for a Snes add-on? A drive (maybe with additional technology like the Sega MegaCD, which included CPU, GPU and RAM) does not make a complete system.

just to take out the cartridge port? or not to let Nintendo make money of their own IP´s using said port?

What do you mean? The Sony Playstation had a very different architecture as compared to the Snes. The PSX is not like a Snes with CD Rom instead of a cartidge slot...

PS3 vs 360 sales

I dont know how you are losing your time with that guy Ronster 316 .....hde doesnt even know Sony was in gaming first with the MSX .

By the end of 92 they had their own console ready but after the agreement with the lawsuit Nintendo filled against them in the US they went back and redisigned it.

Can you provide a proper reliable source for this?

The quoted Wikipedia text only states:

"As a result, Nintendo filed a lawsuit claiming breach of contract and attempted, in U.S. federal court, to obtain an injunction against the release of the PlayStation, on the grounds that Nintendo owned the name."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Its ironic, if the Xbox 360 is "Far inferior" to the PS3 technically then it must mean they are fantasticly brilliant tools designers who run rings around Sonys best and Sony was a fool to not accept their partnership.

A company which can make a 3 core in-order PPC architecture with a custom GPU configuration and unified memory architecture essentially transparent to the PC would have wiped the floor with what Sony has done so far with the Cell, EASILY.

Brilliant one Sony, not only did you invoke another competitor with more money than you to enter into the race, you also shunned the advantages they could have given you... Yeah we could have had Killzone 2 level performance from the PS3 about a year and a half ago I bet.

Tease.

No I can´t since it is what I think happened in that case was because of the material Sony got a hold of without permision, there was no reason for them to go back and redesign the whole system because they actually reached an agreement on both the name and the cartridge slot but yet they went back and redesigned the system.

Here is a quote from the same article:

By the end of 1992, Sony and Nintendo reached a deal whereby the "Sony Play Station" would still have a port for SNES games, but Nintendo would own the rights and receive the bulk of the profits from the games, and the SNES would continue to use the Sony-designed audio chip. However, Sony decided in early 1993 to begin reworking the "Play Station" concept to target a new generation of hardware and software. As part of this process the SNES cartridge port was dropped and the space between the names was removed.

I find it interesting. So much hate IMO based so far mainly on misconceptions. Sony being the first corporation to get involved in gaming? There were so many, including for example Panasonic (3Do), Sanyo, LG, etc. Only Sony was really successful, this seems to be the main reason for his hate (IMO).
