I came across the story in Norway's second biggest newsoutlet (Dagbladet.no) and assumed it held a fraction of truth. But you do realize that all companies are having a hard time now, right? No one has stated that MS' gaming division is in any kind of trouble, its the other divisions that are having a little trouble. I suppose the Chrysler, Ford and GM and endless line of bankrupt banks are also just fanboy nonsense then? Entire nations have gone bankrupt (fact) so there's no denying that all major companies (and minor, a whole slew in my area) will suffer from it to some extent.

I have no problem believeing that Sony need to lay off thousands of workers, it seems natural with they strong yen hurting export and folks aren't exactly mad about spending their pay on TV's stereo's and other media when they can barely handle their mortgages.

There were dozens of titles you could have picked that would have had something to do with the OP, but you had to choose the title that showed your innate bias. Frankly I wouldn't care whether it's true, but I'm happy this turned out to be false just so you can lack the satisfaction I'm sure you wanted when you started a topic unnecessarily bearing that title.

Wow, thanks for the confidence, onyx. I chose the headline thinking it wasn't in any way worse than gebx's 7-8 threads on how Sony are struggling. Forgive my extreme ignorance in thinking it was appropriate to name it so, then. My point was that the financial crisis is affecting everything and everyone and not just one company as it is made out here on Vgchartz. No one can deny that Sony and MS have taken big hits to their other divisions (non gaming) lately on account of the economy.

Satisfaction is not what I wanted either, good that someone debunked it, I simply wanted information. Maybe next time you can ease up on the hatchet onyx, I've been on this site for a very long time and hardly count myself among the most pety and childish members here, contrary to what you make it sound and seem like in your post.

Thank you.

Difference is Sony themselves had press conferences about their cuts so far. And told us that was only one division that has had their cuts. Meaning more to come. However M$ have said diddly squat. So until M$ speaks we know nothing.

This thread and the people in it made me say ROFFLE!

Thanks for the midnight laugh.

^True, but the fact remains that all major companies in the world are likely affected in some way, and it appears more than likely that a company founded and situated in the nation that feels the most burn will surely experience some loss as well.
Its crazy here in Europe, companies going bunk all over and import/export ratios slowing down, governenments all over have to bail out valuable assets in the private sector to maintain acceptable employment levels.
This christmas was the first here in Norway in 11 years that saw no growth at all, it was the same as the previous year.

Edit; was pointing at selnor, of course.

yeah this is some fanboy mess but the whole MGS4 going to the 360 is such accurate news. i highly doubt that the story is fake Microsoft sells more than just video games.

I don't see why this is surprising. Microsoft is a big company and some of its other ventures are not doing as well as they had hoped. With the downturn, layoffs are going to happen. The company is still in good shape, though I doubt they are going to let Xbox division completely off. I would think they would cut some funds/jobs there too.

as far as i know, there are still financial news outlets saying that microsoft will make some cuts, specifically to its non-US based devisions.

all companies are, that's not unusual, that's good business sense in an economic crisis when there is less demand for your products, you must cut back on expenditure.

Yes, all companies have to deal with the recession. However, MS and Nintendo are loaded with cash and are in no danger of posting a loss. Sony is loaded with debt and is in danger of posting a loss. That's just a fact and trying to spin Sony's position as the same as all other companies is disingenuous.

People need to leave Sony alone. What did Sony do to you? Did Sony rape you when you were little? u_u
