Ooh, that is a close bet there.  The original is sitting at 9.5 mil and that is pretty close to Halo 3's sales.  Although there are more people gaming these days, so that will help.  But is the RTS genre as big as it was?

PC gamers have Solitaire! Nintendo is a pale, hardcore, niche player compared to Microsoft and that game.

 

Online poker is huge too.

I beat Minesweeper on expert in 94 seconds at work one time. My comp at home only has a time of 232 seconds for expert though.

 

You must have been pretty bored @ work to get that good/lucky!

@Vlad: I take it you don't count Wii anything, Call of Duty or The Sims 3? (Which happens to be the best selling franchise)

Is there ANY other game in existance that can is considered even remotely ( i mean like there is more than 5% of the population) as a sport in ANY country? Yeah... I didn't think so....

Yeah, I managed a movie theatre while in college.  After we started the shows I would go in the office and minesweep.

Luck definitely plays a part in minesweeper.  Sometimes you get down to a 50/50 choice after clearing an entire board.  Pissed me off.

Truth, The Sims 1 is currently still the best selling video game. Including expansions of course.
