Sure, the pricing might not be as low as now, but a significant number of casuals will still be tempted due to the relative cheapness of the 360 when compared to the PS3.
The combined userbase of the PS3 and 360 won't go up by 46 mill. that's for sure, but certainly it will go up for more than half of that. |
That´s when we disagree. If there wasn´t a wii the ps360 sales would be max 10mln more than what it is today and this gen would be a complete failure. PS2 would still be selling on par or even more than both HD systems. But thta´s something that we can´t be sure completelly, but given wii public is a pretty good bet.
Imagine that Nintendo went bankrupt with the GC and in there is only PS3 and x360 on the market. Why would the people who bought wii play, wii fit, mario kart Metroid and Zelda jump on the HD bandwagon. If they are gamers, but casuals, they stay with the ps2 and would be pretty happy with it. If they are not gamers why would they get one? Give me a valid argument why would this public get a ps360(one of the two)?
Singstar? There´s plenty on ps2. Guitar Hero? Buzz?Viva Piñata? The only title for that demographics thta sold more than one mln and is not heavilly bundled is LBP, and we know for sure is not a system seller, altough I bet will be one of PS3 top 10.
Why would they upgrade? There are close to 49mln ps2 in US alone, so is very widespread. My bet is: casuals would stick to ps2, core and hardcore would get an HD, so 10mln more units without a wii on the market and that´s it.
