it says, this lcd supports its maximum resolution in 1080i

720p and 1080i?

Normally on a 1080i set, you can still use 720p.

And in either case, you can still use either HDMI or Componet cables for a better picture than 480i.

ya 720p and 1080i, but not 1080p

So should i buy HDMI or component?

Dont waste your money on HDMI,most games on PS3 are not even really 720p let alone 1080p there isnt 1 full native 1080p game (good looking game i mean)The only game close is GT5p and its like 960 i read,so componet is fine :)

His TV doesn't support 1080p so I won't respond to your ridiculous claims regarding native resolutions of PS3 games. By the way, GT5P and Wipeout are incredible looking games at 1080p. HDMI is cheaper than component cables and he can use it for other components beyond the PS3. All Blu-ray players are required to down-scale Blu-ray movies to 540p/576p when outputted over analog(component) connections. If you plan on watching Blu-ray movies at 720p you will need to do it via a HDMI cable.

GT5 is NOT native 1080p its 960 or something like that,And wipeout HD wow so what it looks like a PS2 game IMO,and i just watched the dark nite on 1080i on a 32 inch TV,how ever if you dont have a 32inch + TV blue ray wont matter or so what iv read..

You got links to sources saying Blue Ray downsizes them to 540?

That post was so full of fail I dont know how to respond. Are you blind? Wipeout looks amazing, especially if you have the right hardware to show it off. And even at 32'' the blu-ray difference is noticeable! The biggest leap isnt in picture but sound anyway imo with the new lossless formats. Neos, ignore this man and enjoy your games and BD movies.

Oh, and please dont get ripped off with HDMI cables. Dont spend more than $20 for a 12 footer.

2.I said Blue Ray is noticeable on a 32 inch TV.

3.You said "Ignore this game and enjoy your games and BD movies" you ignored what i just said,i didnt say "OH THE PS3 SUCKS 360 RAWKS" or "Blue RAY IS GARBAGE" i said HDMI is useless unless you have a BIG tv,its only for Blue Ray as Games are 720p and most are lower than that.

Whatever. I dont think you've played it based on your conclusion.

2.I said Blue Ray is noticeable on a 32 inch TV.

Yep. Its noticeable as low as 20''. My computer monitor is 24'' and 1080P is way different from 1440x960p or whatever.

HDMI is not useless with small/720p TVs. It is pure digital as opposed to analog, has the HDCP protocol covered, and its a single cable for audio and video. This is worth the purchase over component alone because 1 cable > 3 cables.

Ill teach you something. Digital signals either go through completely or not at all. There is no in between. There is NO DIFFERENCE between a monoprice.com and a monster brand cable that you get ripped off purchasing. I have had so-called "no name" HDMI cables (I bought 5) and paid about $60 total off of newegg. They are all still working fantastically and are identical in performance to any other HDMI cable. Marketing hype =/= better quality.

Thats nice and all but im talking about the OFFICAL PS3 hdmi cables there 100$

Oh im wrong,im looking at bestbuy.com and 65$,my bestbuy is ripping people off then :(

Im not quoting to save other people from endless scrolling but is anybody forcing you to buy "official" HDMI cables? Its all the same socket, so why pay more for the same thing?

Your right not one is forcing them to buy OFF hdmi cables, its really up to him,HDMI just seem like  a waste to me IMO.
