care to list some of these so called "a lot of superior games in the genre"??

or is this thread a simple hit and run troll post?

I'm sure you're about to claim that Zelda is part of its own unique genre and can't be compared to any other game just like every other Nintendo game apparantly (FPA...*sigh*). Here are a few games I consider to be similar and better:

Dark Chronicle, Dark Cloud, ES3:Morrowind, ES4:Oblivion, Baldur's Gate series, Diablo series.

Are you fucking serious?

Again, you have clearly not played Zelda. Jesus Christ, try harder to fake what you've played. And hit that blunt harder, so you forget making this lame troll thread.

You just listed a slew of RPGs. That is not the same genre, genius.

Would you like to tell me the difference between Zelda TP and an action RPG? You walk around towns and dungeons, questing, collecting items, killing monsters, talking to NPCs.. the only difference is Zelda is missing everything to do with levelling and skill development.

There are a ton of games that contain all those aspects but they're not considered RPGs. Leveling and skill-development are two of the greatest and most important factors in calling a game an RPG.

This is one of the most basic concepts in videogaming.

Zelda - every single Zelda game - is action-adventure with a few RPG elements.

So basically I can choose between Zelda or a game I prefer with all the same gameplay mechanics which also includes levelling/skill-development? I don't understand what point you're trying to make.

The point is that they don't have the same gameplay mechanics. They are incredibly different because the leveling and skill-development factors are the very core of any RPG title. You're trying to compare oranges to apples, and it's absolutely ridiculous. If you're going to compare Zelda to similar titles, try Beyond Good & Evil or Okami.

Leveling and skill-development are pretty generic elements in games. BioShock has them... hardly somebody would call this RPG.

@Outcast

BTW list some of yours all time favourite games. Judging by your taste that's easier to get and idea of what kind of gamer are you.

You gotta love the Chad Warden's of the world.

Lol don't expect Smash Bros to be like a street fighter game, its much more about learning what to expect your opponent to do in the near infinite possible situations and what response is best suited.

You missed the best games - WiiSports & WiiFit. If you hate WiiSports, then you'll probably hate the Wii.

...but your parents will probably love it.

Public opinion so far in this thread. It looks like the OP is wrong. You have made a bad mistake to make a thread like this in a Nintendo forum.

I guess he must've thought this forum was called "Nintendo Discussion" not "Blind Nintendo Worship". It's an easy mistake to make.

I was about to say the same thing. The Wii defense force is out and their showing their true colors. God forbid someone plays the games on the Wii and hates them. That just can't be possible. Everybody loves the Wii! It's the greatest system ever made!

@SlumsofOhio

That's not about the system, that all about games.

So I bought a PS3 the other day, and I thought the Cell was going to blow my mind. After playing some games, I just don't know.

Metal Gear Solid 4- 2.5/10. Basically after I got Snake to level 43, I realised that the level grinding in the game was too slow, and I wished there had been some cut scenes to tell some of the story. As it was, the lack of voice acting was really a bummer.

Little Big Planet- 4/5  This one was okay. Not revolutionary or anything. It was fun playing a text based adventure again, the likes of Zork. Kind of a nice throw back, but in this day of HD, a little underwhelming.

No, it's called calling a punk on not having played what he claims to have played. Clue up.
