Forums - Nintendo - Playing Wii on a Computer Monitor

Sorry ranger I'm confusing composite with component. Here's what I used with my Wii and monitor before I bought a TV. Works with all 3 consoles.

Bigjon's box would probably do the job for less though. I don't think you're going to be able to plug the Wii directly into the PC without some sort of video capture card.

@pyro ok thanks

Does that thing convert the audio output into the type that normal headphones can use?

I used to use one called eyeTV, got it free for some reason, otherwise its not exactly cheap.

I plugged the audio wires into a surround sound system when I used them but you can get an adapter for red/white cable to headphone jack. They're dirt cheap.

^ok thanks

I also have another question

If I play a Wii game (or a gamecube game for that matter), will the image become stretched? I know the quality won't be that great but does the image stretch across the screen?

bumpppp.....

If its a 16:10 monitor then it will be slightly stretched from 16:9. If it's 16:9 or 4:3 then no stretch, just change the options in Wii display settings.

Some games will look absolutely terrible, while others will look alright. lol
Playing on 24" monitor.

Ok also, is there noticable lag when you play?

I'm ok with a little but if I'm playing a game like SSBB, lag can get really annoying

btw: thanks a lot everybody so far!
