Forums - Sales - Predict DQ 9 sales

I predict min. 4Million copies only in Japan (even with the piracy..).

+ 1.5 Millions for Others and Europe.

Unfortunately, DQ isn't very known here in Europe. Square has to do a lot of efforts for this game.

Nintendo will be advertising it in the West, not Square.

Well, Iwata said that they planned to push Dragon Quest as hard as they could. Like he said: "We had great success in the west with Brain Training, which was deemed unmarketable"

I remember that comment but wasn't it at DQX reveal, I though he was talking about that game, not DQ9.

Persons without argument hide behind their opinion

i don't think it'll sell more than the other versions, i mean it's not really about the userbase, with a game like DQ i'm pretty sure 10 million or 25 million should only make a small difference. The people that want to buy the game are gonna buy it.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Yeah the thing is advertising does not always = immense gain in popularity

I cant see this one being any different, especially since this is a DS game and there are so many JRPG out there. FFXIII and Versus will do great in NA and EU, not so DQ 9

You'd never underestimate the "marketing power" of a company that is able to sold 20 millions of Nintendogs and Brain training copies outside the japan...

It is important to understand there needs to be a latent market out there that would demand things.  A lot of people like dogs, so Nintendogs caters to them.  And people are interested in remaining mentally sharp, which is why Brain Training sold.  Nintendo markets to the rationalization of people that the self-help programs would actually help them.
