"PS3: 42-45 mln", depends on FFXIII/GT5 release, PRICECUT and other factors, so 42-45 mln. in BEST case. =) 34-36 mln. is worst case, but i`m being optimistic so far. =)

I think we've already covered the "theoretical" performances of both consoles and determined that the PS3 has no big advantage.  Selnor did a good job with that one.  Who ever said anything about your IQ?  Geniuses can still be insane, though I doubt you are quite the genius level given even you make a few grammatical mistakes here and there.  Granted, geniuses don't have to be grammar experts, either.  I do like how you seem to imply you have a higher IQ than the average VGChartz user.  Age =/= intelligence, Mike (and if we are on the point of IQ... no I won't go there ).

 

Update: CrazzyMan's prediction is now that a year with a 8-month economic crisis will see AT LEAST 14 million PS3s sold. Perhaps 25 million if things go well!

Just about a price cut making the difference you suggest that it will ...

Within a couple of months we will have had more people buy a console at a price of over $200 than in this generation than have bought a console at a price of over $200 in the previous two generations combined. While inflation and a (previously) good economy have helped boost the price people are willing to pay we're rapidly approaching a point where most people who are willing to pay $200 or more on a console will have a console already. Why will the PS3's price cut matter to most consumers when they already own a Wii or XBox 360, or are unwilling to buy a console for more than $200? Why will people who already own a console be willing to spend the money on a PS3 when they will be able to grow their library by more games fof less money by picking up a Wii or XBox 360? Why would the Blu-Ray player matter when there will be stand alone Blu-Ray players for $99 (or less) that will go on sale for as little as $49?

Most of those 25 mln. x360 owners are M$ fans, and maybe only 5-7 mln. are PS2 owners.

There are 115-120 mln. PS2 userbase left, which will go for PS3, when it will have more attractive price.
PS3 is THE BEST console on the market. On it`s 2nd year it has BEST games this year vs competitors.

Well, I am not an expert regarding my English grammar. OK, I'll give you that. Anyway I'm not a native English speaker, I'm actually Frisian/Dutch, but I think I still pass well enough compared to many (I know how to get my points across). To my defence I can easily manage in German and Farsi as well.

I think you should watch the school house rocks video "Conjunction Junction" ... In the English language we have a wonderful word called "or" which enables a logical union between two different groups. The PS2 fans who haven't bought a PS3, XBox 360 or Wii yet probably fall into the group of people who are unwilling to spend more than $200 on a console so a price reduction of the PS3 that brings its price down to $350 or $300 is still too expensive to matter to these consumers.

Now, this may be difficult to understand but people tend to buy a console based on what games in has available or has on the horizon ... Just because the PS3 has a stronger library than the XBox 360 had after 2 years doesn't change the fact that the XBox 360 has (roughly) twice as many games with an aggregate review score of over 75% on Gamerankings.com
