Forums - Nintendo - Is 100 Classic Book Collection (DS) destroying the video game industry?

really? i thought games that cause studios to close down were destroying the industry

Its a sweet looking title, I will definitely pick it up (I love reading, and have only read a fraction of those books). Are those books non-licensed? I can't understand how Nintendo can actually do this - if the game costs $40, each book is less than 50c...

I cooked my first dishes using the 'Cooking Guide' game a few nights ago, and it was a great success. Made Saag Paneer & Chickpea Masala - both turned out great. Highly recommended title for those wanting to expand their cooking btw ;)

As much as I use the DS for gaming - I'm very happy if titles for it spill over into non-gaming.

Shams, each of those book are public domain. Basically the $40 is solely for development, marketing, packaging, distribution, etc....nothing to pay for the rights to the books themselves.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I hate reading, but if it's on the DS it has to be funner.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Ah, fair enough. I wonder if any book publishers will ever get around to doing the same thing on the DS. Probably not if they can sell ONE book for $20-$30 (AU).

Already got this and it works great.

e-books on a whole are getting more popular, the kindle is always out of stock at amazon

other publishers are embracing the e-book format due to cost savings

1000 people buy store version- retailer cut- printer cut- author cut-publisher gets rest

1000 people buy the E-book version--author cut--publisher cut (if bought from the publisher's e-book store)= more profit for publisher. cutting out the retailer and the printer reduces the cost of "printing" a book by over half..thus they can (if they choose, some choose not too) sell the e-books for less money than the "normal" version

one thing i AM going to do with My ds is get an R4 and get ALL of my e-books on the card (i have well over 250 ebooks) for when i travel...

Ima cop this jammy. Nintendo just knows what people want. And I want 100 books in my pocket.

People read?

Oh dear. Surely, this will mean all production of videogames will come to a halt, and all gamers on the planet will resort to reading books on their DS, instead of playing games. Yes, the industry is doomed.
