Forums - Nintendo - What I would like to see from Nintendo 2009 and beyond.

i was gunna do one of these but i think this one is better here are my thoughts

games: nintendo has always been an outsourcer. they very rarely buy other studios. instead they work together with third parties. next level games, arika and monster have developed wii games for nintendo and all are nearing completion on their second title. meanwhile more third party dec are being brought into the fold. sandlot, treasure, artoon, gai are all working with nintendo to revitalise old IPs as well as creating new ones. I belive that nintendo EAD will focus on their core franchises as well as the experimwental like games whilst other first party and thris party devs are hired to revitalise other franchises and create new IPs

thats a good 0th post. I agree nintendo should expand. Or maybe not? they are driven by profit, largely profit as a percentage of operating, so increasing profit by x% and increasing costs by 2x% might not be something they want. I think they want to stay slim.

Hey everybody thanks for welcoming me to forum and reading my post.

A couple of people pointed out that it would be difficult for Nintendo to produce as many titles as I suggested, while keeping the quality of the games high. I had not really thought about that.  I guess the best solution would be to as someone said outsource some of the old franchises to an outside developer.  They could then have new teams working on lower tier titles or new IPs, until the new teams have proved themselves capable of working on the big titles. This way Nintendo’s top teams could still work on the Mario, Zelda etc. games.  What do you think?

Wait 5 months, see how WSR performs and then we'll discuss casual sequels.

Thus far, Kawashima 2 has done just as well as the original so i would hope WF 2 would have a chance to lock in that new segment, that won't convert to bridge games or even be interested in any other games at all.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

i think they should hurry up an finish pikmin 3, i've been waiting for that since the revolution was announced (what the wii was first called before it was first released)

but in all seriousness, that sounds like a good idea to me. I also think they should try to more evenly space out the releases of titles (instead of what happened last year with super smash bros brawl, mario kart wii, and wii fit all being released in like a 2 month period... in spring!)

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47568

I think they could do it. They'd just need to do have several small teams made up to do low budget games. Don't worry though. When I say low budget I don't mean low quality. They could have several projects like MegaMan 9 and the quality would still be good.

They wouldn't all have to be same size either some teams could be larger than others. The teams could vary from 4 - 40 people. The same goes for their budget. The idea is to focus on making several games instead of a few AAA games.

I believe they could potentially just hire really small developers aswell. They could bring new energy to franchises they've created and if Nintendo doesn't like the way the IP's being handled they can axe them at any time and hire someone else.

I agree that they need more development resources. Certainly there's outsourcing, but when you're releasing the sum total of 5 games in a quarter, 1 of which is original, you probably need a bit more. Nintendo's refractory periods (droughts, if you will), tend to be too long, and newer teams could help with that

Equally, i agree that they need to start pushing the Shop Channel more. In Japan, i believe they started bundling a "What can your new Wii do?" kinda disc in with everything else in the box, something that can help educate everyone who buys it in the full functionality of the device. They've also been promoting World of Goo and Tetris Party, they just need to push it forward
