You can't go wrong with Cowboy Bebop, Eureka 7 was pretty interesting too.

Cowboy Bebop is quite good. Xam'd: Lost Memories is very good, but you'll need a PS3 (as far as I know) to watch it.

Cowboy Bebop is overrated, IMO.

Thank god someone see's things my way
I just got on into an anime binge over the holidays and if you'd like some funny animes then I would suggest The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star. Watch the Haruhi one first since Lucky Star has alot of jokes using that anime.
