While it's good to say your last good-byes to those that you love, my experience it that it's more about closure for those who are left behind, than those that have gone away. Don't feel too bad about not making to the funeral. At least those of us on this forum know that you would've gone if you could. As long as your uncle knew that you loved him, and you know that he loved you, then there is nothing to regret.

Funerals would probably just make it even more sad for me. I mean, I didn't cry about my great-grandmothers passing, then I saw the body. I couldn't stop crying, even though I knew it was her time.

But before that, I went to my grandfathers funeral. I didn't cry almost at all, until the hearse ride to the burial ground. I guess, for some reason, my mind blocked out certain memories of him, or maybe I just didn't know him as well as I would have liked to. Still... At the funeral, everyone was crying, some even hysterical. I don't think I would like to see that again.
