Microsoft Internet Explorer will redirect you to Live Search by default if it is unable to resolve the ip address for the host in the address bar. You can easily change this on the Tools\Internet Options\General tab under search. MS uses Live Search by default but allows you to use most other major search providers.

The issue you are experiencing is a DNS issue, you will need to research it to determine if it is a problem with the URL, the local computer DNS cache, or Internet Explorers DNS cache.

When typing the URL, type the entire full qualified address. Http://www....
Some DNS errors can occur if you rely on implicit dns resolution; such as, typing vgchartz.com to go to www.vgchartz.com.

You can display/adjust your local computer's DNS cache on MS OS with the ipconfig command. From a command prompt type ipconfig /displaydns to show you the current dns cache entries. ipconfig /flushdns will clear all entries and force your computer to look for current information.

If you want to adjust your Internet Explorer cache settings go to http://technodigits.wordpress.com/2007/07/11/how-to-change-internet-explorer-dns-cache-keepalive-and-server-info-timeouts/
to learn how.

All browsers experience DNS issues at some time, MS will redirect you to a search page, other browsers will just display an error message. Switching to another browser will only mask the issue, not fix it.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
