Forums - Microsoft - Is the Xbox 360 more hi-def than the PS3?

Well... the PS3 has more 1080 games including a few that are full 1920x1080. So I guess that wins. But it's not like 360 isn't capable of it. Isn't the 360 able to upscale most of thier 720p games??? Perhaps developers are just using this as a way to not bother with full 1080 games on the 360.

True hi-definition - was a term invented by marketing teams to differentiate their top end product at 1080p from a 720p only set up.

It actually isnt recognised by any standards body.

I guess the reason is, what happens when the inevitable upgrade to 1480p comes

Will that be Super True Hi Def

you won't have 1480p... (first off because it would be 1440p), because you'll jump directly to something bigger.
HD has struggled enough for not being superior enough and the HD content not apearing fast enough, so we better hope they make a bigger step next time arround...

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I think it is down to personal opinion really as most games look great on either console.

It depends which console is used as the primary development kit i think...which is see sawing at the moment between both

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

And you are forgetting the Blu Ray movies ,that are all in FullHD .

So yes ,more games ,BR movies ....the PS3 displays more content in FUllHD .

Is Full HD the same as True HD ?

Don't forget that every Bluray movie you play on PS3 is in 1080 where as HDDVD is dead.

if anything it's less high def. It didn't even have the capability to output 1080p (in any way) before the tripple was released and they decided they needed to throw in a hdmi port to compete.

Actually after reading the op let me respond properly. What you are seing is what i would refere to as "developer hell" We have been over this a lot but developers has had a hard time developing on the tripple. That's resulted in such things as the lower resolution in some games. However, as you say yourself, people have started using the ps3 as the lead platform which benifits both platforms (as 360 games also ends up looking better than if it had been the lead platform for a game to be ported to the ps3)

Conclusion : we should be over all of this crap by now. :p

Not true.  The Xbox 360 could do 1080p via the Component HD cables since an early update.  Long before they added the HDMI port.
