Forums - Nintendo - Sonic is nearing 10 million sales on the wii!

I think this is the reason why most of sega;s support is on wii for 2009.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

How very misleading. If you take out Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, there is a much different picture.

Aside from that being a very silly thing to do because then you could start taking out any big seller on any platform at any point and skew the comparisons to oblivion.

However, that still leaves a 3 million to 1.18 (X360) and 0.67 (PS3) differential.

Still looks like Wii is leading to me.

No, it's not a silly thing to do at all. That game sold because Mario's name was attached to it.

And I don't care about sales of Sonic games on other consoles. That's not the real point of this thread, unless I'm missing something. Who cares if the Wii is leading? It doesn't matter.

Stating that nearly 10 million Sonic titles have sold on the Wii is very misleading.

ok, my predictions for the games you mentioned

M&S WILL Reach 8.5 million someday, it is still selling and it is not going to stop anytime soon.

SSR will sell a minimum of 2.5 million, unleased will kill it off once it get a price reduction.

Unleashed should sell between 2-3 million it is too early to get precise on that one.

Sonic Riders- I think 1 million is the upper limit here.

So not considering unreleased titles Sonic will sell about 14 million on the Wii... GH is the only franchise that is 3rd party that will even be close.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

So it's silly to try to discoun a Sonic game because Mario was in it too.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

it wasnt just mario that sold M&S at the olympics, it was a combination of both. Regardless, it was till published by sega, and i reckon even without Mario it would top secret rings

Check out my pyro tf2 vid :)

Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)

Are you trying to say we shouldn't consider it part of the Sonic flagship canon series?

That I can perhaps understand but then again none of the 4 titles are really mainline Sonic titles anyway.  They're all offshoots of sorts.

The point is that it's a Mario title with Sonic's name attached to it, not the other way around. If we're going to talk about sales of Sonic games on the Wii, then we should only talk about Sonic games.

Not that's just spitting on the semantics, isn't it?

A Mario game with Sonic in it? I was pretty sure Sega developed it, and other than Mario getting top billing in the title, it's a game that stars both. Neither ridding shotgun.
