The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, currently showing on the UK terrestrial Channel Five just showed a short demo of what Johnny Lee did with his head tracking video. The show is about imaging technologies and that part was about 3D imaging techniques.
The headgear they made was not exactly brilliant, a bicycle helmet with a sensor bar stuck to it (and a camera to show what the wearer was looking at).
Edit: the show has finished now, but it had some interesting stuff on it, and I believe ther is another tomorrow about software.
