Halo Wars is targeted at those who played Halo, not those who love RTS.

it still does not take away the fact it IS a RTS and it will more than likely sell like one. sure slap halo on it and everyone will go wild, tell them its an RTS and now they are thinking twice. although i do believe halo wars will sell nicely i just dont think it will be nice enough to take away from an actual hyped fps

Well you can take this 2 ways.

If you count every big blockbuster as K2's competition, then yes, it has several competition around the corner, including FEAR2, Res5 and SF4, but that list is still far smaller than this Xmas.

If you consider game on a similar thematic level, there is only 2 big contender and only 1 with any realistic chance of stealing K2's thunder. Res5 despite being a 'survival horror' game is turning more and more into a third person shooter.

Its a strategy game.. so its unlikely but its possible

Shouldn't this list only include PS3 games?

I really don't see how Halo Wars will take much sales away from Killzone 2.

ps360 owner has $65 bucks. he is between kz2 and halo wars. thats why every system and every game can take sales away.

Couldn't you say that for any game? PS360 owner has $65, he can buy anything.

The people who are gonna be buying Killzone 2 are going to fall into two main groups, FPS fans and people who bought into the hype. Halo Wars is going to appeal to RTS Fans and Halo lovers. To me, they're not in direct competition.

Halo Wars could detract from the sales slightly, but I doubt it will have any significant effect. I question how many people are gonna walk into the store one day and go "hmm, Halo Wars or Killzone 2"

There are 2 schools of thought at work here...

1. "Killzone 2 will have no competition...its the only game that will sell well this February" - What does that say about your confidence in the game when you thinks it needs no competition to sell well?

2. "Killzone 2 has competition from Title a, title b, title c..." - really, do you think people are dumb and that they will say "I need to buy a game this week" and they will go to the store and see godfather 2, FEAR2 and Killzone 2 and will ponder which to get?

Killzone 2 will have a good opening weekend...and will have legs if its a great game. No need to argue about this...
