If Star Ocean hadn't become so popular on SONY platforms, it wouldn't even be worth money hatting.

Yes, let's make another silly thread about MS "stealing" all the RPGs Sony "stole" from Nintendo....

nintendo kicked them out. sometimes its nice to know about video game story.

it was 64mb (read small space) and nintendo snes third party affairs that made all the third party go to the more profitable ps1.

cheaper to produce Cds, with more memory.

Yeah that office building Sony gave Square had nothing to do with it, the fact that Square was first considering the Saturn as a platform once they noticed they could get a sweet deal had nothing to do with it either, nor the fact that Nintendo allowed Square to work with their hottest property(Mario) in order to convince them not to go was totally unrelated too.

Ignorance breeds posts like the one you just made.

Point is, Sony didn't steal shit from Nintendo. Nintendo shot themselves repeatedly in the feet back then. Kinda like Sony has done for the past couple of years.

Nope, Sony invented the moneyhat for Square/FFVII back then.

keep believing that but everybody know 700mb disc and higher profits was a easy lure.

Higher profits because royalties were dropped yes and CD they had with the Saturn as well.

Sony hired people whose only purpose it was to bribe, buy out, empty out or outright destroy/bankrupt companies that made games for competing systems.

CD-ROM vs. cartridge. The cartridge format did not allow Squaresoft to make the kind of game that they wanted to make. Period.

You can make up whatever other story you want but that's what it came down to in the end.

You are funny, you make me laugh.

Funny especially considering how much they seem to love the cartridge format these days on the DS.

Dude dont be nievely stupid. Sony are the absolute worst in the history of games consoles for screwing the competitors over. Not only did they completely take over the Playstation console, when Nintendo were the ones who began the project. But they then went about buying up studios and moneyhatting to the extreme. Because of revenue they single handedly destroyed Sega. Sorry but your precious Sony was like the Sith in those days.

anyone noticed that Star Ocean 3 sold more units in NA than in Japan? And NA chose the Xbox360 over the PS3, so that is okay.

And of course it will move systems. I expect a 15k boost in Japan.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

1.29 millions sold with a base of 100+ millions PS2 users. Scaling this down to 30 millions (estimate 360 install base by the time SO4 is released), they just need to move about 400K on 360 to match PS2 sales pace! And if they manage to move 800K like some had predicted, they would have doubled expectation.

I had the impression this series was much bigger, but looking at the numbers it apparently was not that big.

yes atomic bomba :d
but what microsoft have after star ocean 4 in japan ?

sony have FF13, versus, GT5 in jap
nintendo have Dragon quest 10, monster hunter 3 in jap

SO4 will definitely sell more than any of the 360 JRPGs so far, which means it will likely sell a million, which is about as good as the PS2 versions. Not bad I think. Definitely not a bomb. I highly expect it to be the #1 HD JRPG in Japan until FFXIII (HDJRPG seems to be a completely new genre).

I always see Sony fanboys posting that this is stupid of SE and that the JRPG fanbase is on the PS3, but if that was true the PS3 would have sold on par with the PS2, which it isn't. And worldwide the userbase of the 360 IS bigger and buys more games. Besides unlike what you're saying SO started on SNES, not on PS.

I think it will come to PS3 too though, but maybe only in Japan.

In Japan WKC will have more sales then SO4, that's a given due to all the JRPG starved PS3 owners. If SE are going to put it on PS3 later then there really is no point, year old ports just dont do well.

I hope it'll bomb so it releases on the PS3
