Forums - Sales - Wall Street Journal on Sony.... Ouch!!!

This's not the typical fanboy article, this's a pretty deep financial report on Sony's current status... and it's pretty harsh.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123050978162738293.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

And you can check the complete article (if you're not a WSJ suscritor) in GAF

Because is the only site that has the article complete and free. Remember that the WSJ is a subscrition newspaper and if you're not a subscriptor you can't read it complete on the WSJ site.

"Ouch" is an understatement. That article is a very grim reality check to all those people still saying PS3 has a chance. And I still hear some people talking about a PS4...

I remember someone here saying a line something similar to "PS3 was the sacrificial lamb to Blu-Ray". I can't help but agree with that remark now.

Well Sony isn't KO'd yet, but I'll be damned if the ref isn't counting.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

Though 06 is "Ouch", the trend is quite positive. It would be nice to go back and see what the "pattern" looks like in the gaming division for the previous years...

Let's just see how things pan out for Sony considering they "held the line" on pricing the PS3 this holiday in hopes of getting back to profitability.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)

.... I own a PS3

Well atleast it's improving...
The gaming division should be profitable next year if this continues.

At least the loss for the gaming division is smaller than from previous two years and Sony as a whole has a chance to be profitable at the end of the year

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
