Forums - Gaming - Nintendo's Untapped Demographic

Actually, I'm curious. To those who have no interest in the Wii, have you ever enjoyed a Nintendo console? Sounds to me like the game preferences lean towards PC over NES/SNES. Personally I enjoyed both, just wondering.

Just replying this. I have never enjoyed a nintendo console. However I haven't been strictly pc-player either, I loved megadrive. :p

Now, one of the major demographics that hasn't been tapped by Nintendo would have to be the PS360 userbase. Now, I know many of you, including myself, own a PS3, 360, or both, but there are still many people who only own an HD console.

With more games going Wii exclusive and third party developers taking the Wii seriously, when do you believe that the PS360 fans who refuse to purchase a Wii will realize that they're missing out on a great library of games (For an example, see No More Heroes)

With those who have the money to own more than one console, a Wii and an HD console are definitely a must to fully enjoy this gaming generation.

Also, those of you who don't have a Wii, what would it take for you to purchase one?

You have a god point, but it ain't so much about third party exclusives as No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, Castlevania Judgment, The Conduit, Mad World, Tenchu: Shadow Assassins, Sonic and the Black Knight, de Blob, Rygar: The Battle of Argus, Monster Hunter 3 tri-, Dragon Quest X, Deadly Creatures, Red Steel, Red Steel 2, Spyborgs, Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Lightsaber Duels, The House of the Dead: Overkill, Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars, Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Arc Rise Fantasia, Cursed Mountain, TMNT fighting game, Samurai Warriors 3, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Tales of (game number 10) game and a bunch of Nintendo games like Zelda, Mario and what not as it is about the number of exclusive games are growing together with the installbase, Japanese developers doing more and more exclusive titles for Wii and maybe a possible change for western developers to put more time and money for exclusive Wii projects.

How maybe Balance Board and Motion+ might get more people in to Wii gaming of any kind. How good can't a Star Wars game with Wii Motion Plus get?

Only few of the best games that will grace the Wii is already released or even announced yet.

Stuff like that will make any kind of gamer buy a Wii and buy Wii games.

But the looks for it, PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers manages just fine with lots of good games and more AAA games then Wii will see in a while. What will come out of the economical struggle Publishers and developers have is still to be seen. Whatever happens happens.

I'm confused, you guys keep saying the wii is so successful because it stayed away from the hardcore, yet you want hardcore gamers to want it. More over, you guys keep bragging on how much hard core games the wii will have soon.

Did you not get the memo? Lots of core games is on it's way for Wii.

And what guyes said anything about Wii was succsessful because it stayd away from hardcore? I allways thought Wii was successful because it all about all kinds of games and new ways to play.

Well, time to sleep for me.

Yea and a wii owner without a PS3 or XBOX 360 is absurd

Idk because maybe 52% of the current consoles sold are PS360 consoles??

It'll never happen. Core hasn't liked Nintendo since after SNES and Nintendo systems have had shitty third party support for over 10 years.

Well i dont really see this as an issue, if someone finds enough interest in a Wii they will get it, that's the simplicity of it . It's a product like others after all..

The reason i do not own HD console is because i do not feel i need one (i have a good PC and not enough time to play on it), not because of some sort of prejudice, and that is this same with majority of people not owning a wii (and having other consoles). All i had last gen was a GC and i was not bothered about getting a PS2 at all.

Never, but some people are free to dream it will. As for me I prefer to stick with reality and the reality is that there are many games that go after the core 360 userbase coming out in the next two years and against which the Wii simply doesn't compare.

You can list The Conduit, Madworld (which might turn out to be a great game), and a few others but they simply don't compare to the mass amount of great games in the genres that appeal to many 360 gamers.

and your accusing us of living in a dream world?

I do agreed that the 13-20 year old manchild testoterone charged male demographic will never come over to the Wii. Why would they want murder death kill on the Wii when they can have it in HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe if they made a game where you could use the Wii Mote to masturbate, and kill people by stabbing them in the back to see them squirm for life..... that could get some of those gamers. The Wii is only fun if you have friends for the most part, so some nerd living in his moms basement will never want a Wii either...

So what they makes 2 demographics the Wii will never reach.

Nerds living in their parents basement w/o a job and 13-20 year old manchilds....

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Alright, I'm locking this. This thread has had too many flame wars, and if the last post is any indication, the posts aren't what I'd call quality.

Locked.
