You must be talking about upscaled, common DVD. HD-DVD support was dropped at the beggining of the year since Blu-Ray was winning like 10:1 (thanks to PS3).



 

 

 

 

 

I have to say that calling Blu-Ray a "high-def DVD" is a bit weird. At least I wasn't aware that Blu-Ray is considered a type of DVD. In fact I'm still doubtful that that's a common usage of the term.

I'm not. As far as I know, DVD is a trademark which refers to the DVD format only. It's not a generic name for "disc with video content".

Do you have any credible source saying otherwise?
