Standard Televisions don't have HDMi ports m8. HDMI is only for HDTVs.

Ignore the people telling you HDMI is for HDTV only, there are plenty of NON HDTV's that have HDMI interfaces.

To answer your question, HDMI will enable 480P whereas the NonHD cabling will offer 480i

I can tell, as you PooPoo'ed the OP.

HDMI is a connection type, nothing more, nothing less.

It is capable of delivering up to 1080P (1440P some would tell you) and does just fine on 480P displays.

And there are plenty of SD CRT's with HDMI as well

This is the first holiday season where SD has started to REALLY go away, as late as this january, you could get a 32inch CRT with multiple HDMI, and other inputs, from the big chain stores.

Ive seen 720p and ED tvs with HDMI. Still if you got the cable use it on the standard, otherwise wait until you get a nicer tv
