Forums - Sony - My Hunt for LBP: A Boxing Day Tragedy

At about 6 o'clock in the morning of boxing day, I smoke a fat joint with my friends and head over to future shop. The store was already packed by the time we got there and most people were pushing and shoving just to get to what they wanted. Things go pretty smooth; One of my friends buys a 42" LCDTV along with a new 360. With the 360 he gets the two bundled games as well as Assassins Creed and Gears of War for 20 dollars a pop. Another friend finally grabs himself a dualshock 3 and wireless USB keyboard.

But me? I'm not getting anything yet. I have my eyes on Little Big Planet. Yes I have already played this game to death with my friends. I have finished the campaign, but there is no way I'm missing out on buying my own copy. Future shop has it for 59.99. I tell myself there is no way I am buying it at that price. Why? I find an HMV flyer saying they have LBP, Gears of War 2 and Prince of Persia for 29.99. By the time we reach HMV, the place has been open for 20 minutes already. Little Big Planet is already sold out. Guy says it took no more than 5 minutes to get rid of their 14 copies. I'm kindof cheesed at this point but it's all good cause I got PoP and UTIII for 40 dollars combined. Four hours and  7 HMV's later, I finally quit. This game is flying of the shelf like hotcakes. My friend couldn't understand because he got his copy of Gears 2 at like the third HMV.

Now I am sitting at home with this blank stare on my face.

^ It means day after christmas long story

It's when people have to punch each other in the face to get a better deal. The op couldn't keep up with the punches and lost.

I stay away from the crowds as much as I can, this year however I had to go to oxford street the day b4 xmas eve... it was horrible D:

well, i'm sure the joint isn't helping the blank stare.

i bought it full pop... and while i don't regret it, i wouldn't have minded saving $30 either.

i feel ur pain, its ok, u can get it next time

EB had UTIII brand new for $10...

I got to HMV an hour before it opened and within 15 seconds of it opening Prince of Persia and LBP were both sold out (albeit there were only 5 copies of each available).

I've already got LBP though so it wasn't a big deal. Really want PoP though, couldn't even find it anywhere else to try a price match :(

It's all about the game.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but I thought in a few threads I read the other day people said LBP only sells in Europe because of bundles?

Sorry to hear you could not find it though, excellent game. It deserves to be sold out.
