Forums - Nintendo - Wii Vrs DS Software After 2 Years

Here is a lot from the week before cmas at the ds in 06

http://vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39075&console=DS&maker=&boxartz=1

And the Wii WW last week

http://vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39803&console=Wii&maker=&boxartz=1

imo quality titles for each console (maybe to AAA even, or just VERY good games worth owning) note, not in any particular order.

DS

  1. Mario Kart (2nd best MK game overall)
  2. Pokemon (only released in Japan at the time, 6 more months before US, and 9 for others)
  3. Brain Training
  4. Nintendogs
  5. Mario64 port
  6. NSMB
  7. AC: WW
  8. Sonic Rush (I put this in at the last second, it is a very good game)
  9. Wario Ware Touched

ok, so seven games that would be consider system sellers, very good games. There were other decent to even quality titles like FF3 port(i did not like it), and Castlevania: PoR(dont know enough about it to consider it good). Also note, only 3 of those games are core AT ALL. NSMB, Pokemon and Mario64... maybe MK. BT, Nintendogs, AC,

now for the Wii after 2 years, again  games that are either very very good or system sellers (to clarify, Metriod was not much of a system seller, but it is very good, WiiSports is not AAA quality, but it is the best system seller ever, imo)....

I decided to devide it up core and casual for you all, the DS did not have enough core games to make it worth the seperation.

Core (or at least traditional gamer)

  1. MK: Wii
  2. SMG
  3. Metiod Prime 3
  4. Brawl
  5. Zelda: TP
  6. Guiter Hero III
  7. Rock Band 1
  8. Rock Band 2
  9. Guiter Hero: WT
  10. RE4: Wii (i counted MK64 for the DS)
  11. RE: UC
  12. COD: WaW Wii
  13. House of the Dead 2 and 3
  14. Sonic Unleased (I counted Rush up there)
  15. No More Hereos (how could I miss this one)

Okay more casual games that are quality, and or sell systems

  1. WiiSports
  2. WiiFit
  3. Mario and Sonic
  4. Carnival Games (best non nintendo mini game collection)
  5. Mario Party 8
  6. De Blob (not really too casual, but it is very Wii-ish)
  7. Zack and Wiki (same as above)
  8. Shaun White
  9. WiiMusic (love it or hate it, it is a quality product)
  10. Animal Crossing Wii
  11. Boom Blow
  12. Blast Works (forgot these two gems)

Ok, so you may not personally agree with all of the games I put in these list, but they are all quality games worth owning. The main point of this is to show people despite the fact that the Wii is following the DS's footsteps it is better off than the DS was at the same point... by alot. The Wii has many common factors, like DQ being announce exlcusive and such. I see alot of people whining about the Wii as of late, and praising the DS, but if the DS looked this bad just 2 years ago and is as good as it is now... The Wii has alot to look foward to.

Tell me if you think any games should be in the list and if I just forgot about it I will add it.

And both systems have the next Dragon Quest games. I don't care if that's not a huge series in the west yet. It helped the DS get loads of RPGs, and likely X will do that for the Wii!

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

you should take unleash from the list and add the secret rings, afteralll its a succsesful exclusive. also where the hell is no more heores that games is just awesome

Monster Hunter Tri exists in the past, present and future, also yes where is No More Heroes, maybe you could also count Wiiware and VC?

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Great point.

I bought a DS at launch and I remember how it took a couple of years for developers to 'get' the system, then the support and number great games went through the roof. I find it funny how so many people can't see the exact same thing is happening with the Wii.
