This was a STUPID, STUPID, STUPID thing to do... really. And any conservative who doesn't think so has no place in politics. Honestly, it's just stupid. I can't even think of another word for it. Did I mention it was stupid?

I don't know, Tovya, I think republicans should follow this path. The Obama Bucks and Barack the Magic Negro really seem to get the base excited. I mean, the base is getting smaller, but what remains is more excited.

Honestly, this is as dumb as that one DNC woman-member back during the Bill Clinton Impeachment trials who said, "hahah, oh yeah, I'd get on my knees for Bill any day." I forget who it was, but it was on MSNBC. People are just so stupid sometimes I want to bang my head into a brick wall, I swear.

Stuff like that is what made the Democrats look like the godless party. Stuff like this makes the Republicans look racist.

I don't think either tag is accurate really. I think people in both parties do stupid (there's that word again) things that give them inaccurate misnomers.

Funny enough though, the Republicans were once the abolitionist party who had African-Americans standing behind them, and the Democrats were the party of "God". Amazing how much things have changed in the last 50 years or so, no?

Honestly, I think politicians on all sides are full of--well, I think you know where I am going with this. Politicians are just pompous liars disguised by a suit and tie anyway. No one says what they mean, or mean what they say. Just like the infamous non-politician liberal Ted Turner who was "pro-Black" and at the same slinging racial slurs on Jesse Jackson. Washington D.C. created the American standard of pretense in 1776 and has slid downhill ever since.

All I'm saying is that the base word negro isn't offensive in itself, only when used wrongly. But then, I guess alot of words would be offensive if used wrongly. The song is stupid, and a big mistake, but it isn't racist or anything, even if it looks like it.I mean, would a politician honestly come out and just start throwing the N-word around? I don't think so.. Unless some old-time democrats are still living :P

Obama has been pretty wise to move away from that throughout the campaign and most recently with having Pastor Rick Warren appear at his inauguration.

If Republicans lost some of their control over the religion issue, it could seriously injure the party's future.  Obama is wise trying to take the issue away from them.

I would love to hear a single example of anybody using the word without it being very racially charged.  Like a salesman coming to your door, "Good afternoong my fine negro neighbor!  How are you today?"  They might be friendly as hell and not racist, but if they say that and don't get hurt or immediatlely thrown out, I'd be very surprised.

Try using it in public in a neutral fashion, in front of some blacks, and report back to us.

I think Obama would be wise to ride center-left through these 4-years, and he'll greatly improve his chances at re-election in 2012.  The half of the country on the right is affraid that Obama will brow beat them with liberalism over the next 4-years.  If he bucks that train of thought and ventures closer to the center, he could wait until his second term to start really pressing his inner-agenda.  That would be smart politics (at least that is what I would advise if I were part of his inner-circle).
