why are core gamers so angry that Wii is winning??
i'm sure they find it very frustrating watching games like Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit outselling their "core" masterpiece games, by some millions, even GTA IV....

It's hard to know exactly where to jump in when the crock of sh*t is this big but here's just one pin to pop your bubble. If Wii owners in droves are getting bored with their toy they would do what everyone does - unload that turkey on EBay. So if you're right there ought to be a poy load of used Wii's for sale compared to new one's. The resellers after all will lose interest if they have to compete with a bunch on cheaper used ones.

So I popped around to EBay and did a quick head count. I was a bit surprised at what I found but you're not going to like it.

PS3 New=616 Used=757    Plenty in stock everywhere so not too much happening
XBox360   New=502  Used=1790 (mostly elite)  seems like not everyone is happy
Wii New= 3,260 (all going for over list) Used =435  (also selling above list)

Wishing that something is true doesn't make it come true. If it did I would be invisible waiting in Jennifer Anniston's shower instead of wasting my time on this crap.

I love the concept that Nintendo have already spent all their good games, and yet somehow the Wii doesn't have any good games.

It is not happening only because Jennifer Anniston is wishing for you not to be invisibly in her shower, and she is wishing it much more intensely than you .

To OP: consoles do not work on boom and bust patterns but more in a network effect where the more popular it is the more it becomes popular, until it slowly (very slowly, just look at the PS2) fades away over many years. The Wii is likely to see its peak either in 2009 or 2010 and then slowly fade away in the following 4 years but by the time it is markedly off its peak it will be over 100M and chasing after the PS2's record (or rather, the DS's record by then).

Becouse we are afraid it might consume resources from development of proper games to release more shovelware.

It's as simple as that.

Oh right and we refuse to pay twice the ps2 price for machine with similar abilities :D

maybe there are a lot of shovelware, but most are not selling, i think it's the reason a heck of core games are coming in 2009 for Wii

i thought the Wii was attacked beause it was very different, not similar!

it may be similar in graphics, BUT different in everything else!! (although some Wii games look closer to Ps3 than Ps2)

I've noticed a dichotomy of complaints against the Wii.

It's too similar to something else - It's too different from everything else.
Nintendo doesn't appeal to their fans anymore - Nintendo has released games for all their franchises already.
3rd parties don't support it. - 3rd parties release too many games I don't like.
It sells because it's cheap - It's overpriced.
The casual market is killing the industry. - PS2 started the casual market, not Nintendo.
