Play FFX first, it's by far the best game on your list.

You must have missed where it said ICO on the list.

Having played SotC first, I didn't really like ICO. I recently sold my copy for a nice chunk of change. SotC was better, but neither game actually has a narrative of any kind, and the large lulls in gameplay end up making me feel like I'm playing a lite version of an epic game.

IMO, there are many better games on the PS2.

I tend to think ICO and SotC get so much attention for a few reasons. One, is the sense of scale, especially in SotC. Nothing like it on a last gen console. Two is the fairly interesting gameplay, and graphical presentation, which work well together. Finally, the endings of the game where you are supposed to feel some sort of emtional attachment to your silent avatar.

I realize that I'm in the minority here, but honestly, I could take or leave those games. There are just too many things missing from them. The games are about the experience, but not the fun. More destination and less ride. You really have to have a heart to enjoy those games, and I simply don't.

FFX on the other hand, is one of my favorite entries in the Final Fantasy series, and one of my top picks for PS2 games, along with FFXII, RE4, Okami, MGS3, DMC, DMC3, Tekken 5, Persona 3: FES, Tales of the Abyss, and Persona 4.

That is why I skipped ICO. I believe FishyJoe and I have had this discussion before. It's not that I don't respect those games...I just don't think that some gamers, like myself, really like them as much as think they should.

Have you ever heard the story of the King and his invisible robes?

When I hear someone say that ICO is better than most of those other games I've mentioned, I cringe a little, everytime.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

You go to your room, young man. You go to your room and you don't come out until you think about what you've done.

Not sure about gamestop, but I know gamecrazy can special order used games they don't have in stock. Sometimes the shipping can be high, but I was surprised that was able to get Tetris for the DS for my wife (which is a really hard to find game, Amazon lists it at $70) at a good price that way (something like $16 after shipping).
